Ok, I'm in.

Here is my 1966 deluxe. In the interest of full disclosure it is a Deluxe and not a Samba but during the resto the old roof had to go so I thought, why not. So is it a real samba? Nope. Is it a really beautiful bus? I think so.Everything was built to a very high standard and all of the correct Samba bits (belly pans ect..) are there.

Full nut and bolt resto in 2011 as bone stock as I could make it. 1600 single port engine with Pict 34-3 carb with new trans from Rancho.

Yes, I did get everyone lost on the way to the Ben Pon show , but don't hold that against me here.

Last ones. Yes, the hole for the emergency flashers is the wrong size ,but we changed from a lighter to the flashers too late. Bothers me every time I look at it too.

Let me introduce Colin..

He's been with us for a good while, loads of fun miles and trips all over the place. Shipped to San Francisco in 1960 and was used by a local firm who were in existence with the same phone number until last year. Not sure what happened between then and him arriving in the UK but all in all he's had a fairly easy life with very little welding and all original panels.

Since we have had custody pretty much every part of the running gear has been replaced with IRS, Type 3 drums, CSP disks, steering box raise, tubs, 1776 engine, servo, upgraded fuel tank etc. He has now been transformed and is a pleasure to drive with a bit of power, brakes that will pop your eyeballs out and a fairly comfy ride.

Anyway pictures..

Nice bus man. See you did the Disneyland trip as well. Found out this summer I really can't do roller coasters.

Tough choice, both great vans, but I think the rolling shot of the Colonial van pipped it for me :D
