Turnkey??? What does it really mean?

Over the years I've seen and bought a couple of turnkey engines for sale, and have noticed how much a turnkey engine varies. I remember when I bought my first turnkey and it was exactly as it should of been, everything was included, exhaust tinware carb etc etc. so all you do is fit it connect it and start it.
I've seen this vary over the years where you need to add an exhaust or certain tinware or even heat exchangers and even the coil missing, thus not making it a turnkey.
Am I wrong????

turn key….
slide it in, bolt up x4 bolts
connect the wires and fuel hose
turn the key
alternative is officially known as, 'almost complete'
(minus the exhaust, heat exchangers, coil, dizzy, some tinware, carb, some gaskets, etcetc)

"turn key" or "rust free" are both terms that have been massively abused over years!
Turn key except for a missing coil or rust free except that you need to do both sills as they have rot in them its all the same rubbish.

Missing exhaust and exchangers is known as "Loud turnkey"

I thought it was only me. This isn't aimed at anyone, just that i've been looking for a friend and the ones I've seen have had bits missing

Turnkey should be just that, put it straight in do your four bolts/nuts up connect fuel line, acc. Cable etc and away you go!

Joe never was that fussy anyway. ...
I almost count myself as a friend...and over the years I have had small items cut off and missing.... nothing major I could still run with the right fuel inside me...
