Extra dash gauges - was this standard
Extra dash gauges - was this standard
by Griffin » Wed Jul 01, 2015 9:53 pm
My deluxe has extra gauges (oil and amp) and look pretty original, I have now seen a couple of others with the same and wondering if these were done on one of the unknown m codes.
I just pulled the gauges out and the cut outs are all the same (ie not chopped out w tins nips etc)
Pic of my project below along with another from ssvc
Any ideas?

Thanks guys
Sooooo, was this fitted by VW as suggested by George? Guessing just after leaving the factory? Have seen 3 now with identical location holes.
If I am restoring to original do I fill holes or leave if this was a VW mod?
Thoughts folks?

I'd say they were fitted quite a while after it left the factory and not by VW. A quality hole cutter will make an perfect hole and the gauges are not chrome bezelled. Personally I'd fill the holes and relocate the gauges under the dash tray.
Are they VDO gauges?

Op the pic of the car with gauges is not mine, alas mine is the one awaiting restoration with gauges now removed... It went to Africa originally and had oil and amp gauges added
