Is there an overview here anywhere of changes in split buses from 1949 till 1967?
What I mean is in the course of time, for example:
- Barndoor till March 1955
- March 1955 - Aug. 1958: ribbed bumper bus
- From Dec. 1960: hinges from swing doors lower
- From Aug. 1962: wider rear hatch
Etc.

There is a book, I have it somewhere. Dave Eccles I think was the author. Can't remember the name of the book though. However it is missing some details, nor much though.

My 55 has a few one year only things I didn't realise they had and nor did Dave

I have something similar: VOLKSWAGEN bug! The people's car, by RAY MILLER.
But I hope there is an overview of major changes of split buses, just to start with.

The original vw bus by Laurence Meredith is pretty good. It lists pretty much every production change by chassis number in the data section. Pretty old now so not sure if there's anything better out there J

Thank you for all the books with a lot of details, interesting for a study.
What I'm looking for now is to recognize the differences in years/models by (optical) changes.
So changes in the rear hatches, lights, hinges, door handles, bumpers etc. and the years the changed were made.

etc. etc.

You could take the opposite approach like Einstein when asked for his telephone number...." I have no idea - but I know where to look!"

Sadly I may have graduated to one of the former categories..
