Hi All

So the resto of my bus got finished last year, I managed to do like 30 miles, but they were the best 30 miles ever !

The bus then went into storage for the winter in Cornwall, I actually live in Austria up in the Alps and I'm back in the UK next week which got me thinking......

Rather than fly back to Austria from the UK .... why don't I just get the bus out of storage and drive it home !

Is this bad / mad idea based on how "new" it all is .... or should I just man up and get on with it ?

I'd say check over the motor, brakes, lights etc and go for it.
Maybe take a basic tool kit and spare points, bulbs etc just in case.

Why the hell not As above check the breaks, and give the engine a good going over and take a few spares and hit the road.

The answer is Yes you are mad if you don't take it back to Austria.

As others have said. Check it over ,take a few parts and tools plan your route and off you go. Take a few local numbers and addresses of local aircooled garages enroute just in case. BBT has contacts throghout Europe and will post things for next day delivery.

Do it dude. It will always be a story you look back on and smile.

You should most definitely do the trip. I have purchased several early '60's Beetles from Sweden and drove them all home. Waiting on one as I type now, the road trips are the best part of classic VW ownership. Just be sensible and prepared, pack some tools, spares, maps/sat nav and clean pants. Is is roughly 1300-1400 miles from Sweden back to the UK, 7 countries in around 3 or 4 days and that is with an unknown vehicle! You at least have somewhere to sleep, eat & rest on your trip.
Go for it and put yourself outside your comfort zone. Expect the worst but hope for the best...you will not regret it.
Take a camera and record your adventure.

A bra is definetly a good idea. To say this bus is immaculate is massive understatement. I share your worry, BUT it's such a shame your not out there enjoying it mate. ...
