Find an abandoned split -what's next?
by lowdown dirty rat » Fri Jun 08, 2012 2:22 pm
Before anyone asks, this is what to do generally, because you never know
NOT because I'm sitting on a diamond find
Let's say you are wondering the woods on a European vacation and stumble onto an old split rotting away.
Whats the general sequence of events one should follow to make it yours???
Find the owner? Or is land owner fine?
What paperwork needs to change hands? Bill of sale, anything else?

Where do I find out what's needed for where?
How about both for a comprehensive thread
Europe or Scandinavia?

The laws are different from country to country.
Sweden - it is usually the land owner that owns the bus.
Portugal - over here I have found a few with no documents in fields, woods etc. It has not been hard to chase up the owner. A lot of documents were handed in to avoid paying anymore tax on it.
Some people transport a car with just a purchase note, but if you get stopped they could impound the car (especially in France or Spain). Though I am not sure when they class it as spares (no documents needed), think without the axle/engine.
Once bought a bus from Switzerland, was not allowed into France without the right import document Had to get a simple form, well wait until monday (it was Friday night), travel 60 miles to some office
Cheers,
Dom.

Dunno about you fellas but round where I live there are loads of little wooden garages down tracks n back lanes. Some of them have obviously not been used in a long time,
How would one go about finding out who owns them????
And more importantly is there a splitty camper in them ??????

I found a Ford Zodiac Zepher estate in an old garage in a block 2 streets for where I live. I even knew the bloke that owned it as I was at school with his son. It was a complete rust bucket but I'm sure someone somewhere would have saved it and how often do you see the estate models. Unfortunately the chap passed away and the house and probably the garage got sold before I got round to knocking on the door
I might have a looksie in the garage again to see if its still there.

Firstly, you knock on the door with your right foot, then you go in and see if the owners details are there
