Panel Van Campers question
Panel Van Campers question
by Rippers » Tue Jul 03, 2012 2:02 pm
For the guys with panel vans that camp in them I wanted to ask how you get on with the upper rear vents. As I'm imagining they let the cold in? whistle in the wind? and leak when it rains? Although I can image they help when its warm and help with condensation. What's your experience?
Also interested to see how others have trimmed them on the inside or put open/close vents on the inside?
Thanks

Would that not rot them from behind?

Got small vents on the vinyl sheets inside, had them off a few times with no noticeable water stains whatsoever, saying that we tend to only camp out in it in the summer hopefully when its not raining
Don,t whistle and its nice having a bit of fresh air coming in. Erna

Left mine open just used the silver insulation and camping mat up to them. Not ply lined in front so it allows them to breathe fully

I blocked mine off on the inside with a bit angled plastic strip over each vent and some seam sealer.

Thanks guys, it seems the general consensus is to block the vent from behind.
I would like to be able to ultilise the vent if I can, so might try and find a open/close solution but if I can't or it looks rubbish I'll just block it from behind and forget about it

not blocked mine off.
camped in bad rain and wind and nothing came in.
only time rain comes in is when driving on motorway.
its nice to have fresh air coming in
