Anyone in to splitties in Swansea in the early '90s?

Anyone in to splitties in Swansea in the early '90s?

by Who.Me? » Wed Mar 11, 2015 7:29 pm
I was a student at Swansea Uni in the early '90s (1990-93) and I'm sure I remember a rusty bus sat in someone's front garden/driveway throughout the time I was there.

I'm sure it was a house on coast side of the Mumbles Road/A4067 between Oystermouth and West Cross.

Anyone local on here who remembers it, and did it survive?

I daydreamed about buying it and restoring it for years, but I couldn't have afforded it at the time. Always wondered what happened to it.

Hey I remember that, it belonged to the family of a friend of mine if it's one I'm thinking of.

The family now has a collection of rotting smart cars in the driveway. 8O 8O

Bus is long gone as far as I know, but I will ask John when he pops in next.

Cheers

It was a sea blue and white RHD late Devon, with the Martin Walker roof. I tried to buy it for years, then one day it vanished, sold to someone who was going to restore it apparently. Hope it survived! 8)

That sounds about right, I had green/white or blue/white in my head.

Yeah, wonder where it is now?

It's one of the reasons I'd wanted a split screen for years. The other was a guy who I was in halls with at Clyne in my first year (now converted in to very expensive private apartments/housing, I understand). He was from one of the channel islands. His dad lent him his split screen as his student ride. Being from the channel islands it didn't need an MOT at the time, which was just as well :D

I had a poxy Morris Ital. So jealous. :(

So that's what the next generation of 40-somethings will be dreaming of then?

Haha, probably right! Can't imagine them being there in 50 years time mind ewe.... 8O 8O

I always fancied that van too, I used to lust after it when the family was living in Derwen Fawr. It was pretty rotten, like my finances at the time if I remember rightly...
