Swage line pinstripe, what width approx??

Swage line pinstripe, what width approx??

by OP » Sun Aug 16, 2015 9:00 pm
I'm looking at putting the swage line painted pinstripe on my all dove blue to break it up a little. Plus I like the look of it  Does anyone know what width approximately the original one was and how far up the swage line it went. Hoping to get it sorted this weekend :D

Cheers me dears :)

There's a realy good thread on the samba about this.
I can measure my 54 this week if you want, the samba has a lot of info.

I'm going for 1/2" up and 1/8" stripe seems to be the size on The Samba....Hopefully if the pinstripe masking take works as I hope it will.

Cool :-)
Try doing a little by hand first you can always wipe it off,you can use your finger tip as a guide and run of the bottom of the swage line just a idea.
Be good to see how you get on.

Well I did it and it came out quite well I think. A little wobble on one rear corner that I'll redo at some point. Really hard to paint as I'm a blooody perfectionist when the OG line wasn't so my brain was saying don't think about it too much but my hands had trouble listening

1/2" up and 1/8" line which is the F9 in pinstriper tape ;) £6 on Ebay and £2 for the antique white enamel paint from Homebase :D Just need to wait until it's 100% dry and flat it back a little.

Had to hand paint a few inches at the bottom of the nose 'cause the tape doesn't bend enough so a steady hand needed.

Well the wobbly bit on the corner lasted less than 48 hours before my OCD kicked in ;)
