Cable boots

Cable boots

by JonnyCJ » Sun Apr 03, 2016 8:18 pm
Anyone got a part nr or link to the cable boots that go on the ends of the guide tubes for the clutch and handbrake cables ? Can't for the life of me find them anywhere, although I'm probably using the wrong search term.

They're a sort of corrugated sausage type thing with a small hole at one end and about 3" long.

Sound familiar - Joe ?

Is this what you mean? Can't see them for earlier split bus but they may work on both I guess.

Sorry if not what you were looking for.

Actually - whilst on the subject, I also need the two rubber boots that go on the rear of the handbrake conduit.

Again - I've looked and can't find them. They do exist, I've seen them !

Would these not do the same job if you just trimmed the hole so it was a little larger?

I can't remember seeing an alternative but would happily be corrected.

Thinking about it, don't the handbrake cables go through a sleeve which attaches to the end of the guide tube and then into the brake drum at the rear? That's assuming you are standard bus not IRS as I have no idea what these look like. I don't know for sure that's right but it is from memory which I do confess isn't so good these days!

Cheers

Correct part number for clutch cable boots is 111 721 365. Autocraft amongst others sell them. Two required and note they are different from the Bay window heater cable boots that the machine7 link above shows.
The handbrake boot is at the cab end, not the rear brake end. Part number 211 711 411. Googling this part number draws a blank.

Thanks Ed - there are definitely boots on the handbrake cables at the engine end. I've fitted them previously !

Found this by accident on Autocraft http://www.autocrafteng.co.uk/shop/spli ... 55-67_773/ looks like the split version of the Bay Window jobby.

Should also suffice for the accelarator cable front end.

Thanks all - got there apart from the handbrake cable boots at the rear !
