I’ve just returned from a long rd trip to view a new Vw. Not a bus as I’ve already got one
It’s a 1954 rhd Aussie ckd oval beetle
I put a deposit down and will be picking it up very soon.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
We have been looking for a ragtop oval for a while and this is very clean. It’s only got 100miles on it since the full Resto. Really can’t wait to pick it up after busfest

Very nice - but watch the remote filter pipes on the j tubes and get some industrial tins from Butty to ensure proper cooling of the engine.

Cheers. The seller has wrapped the pipes for me already as I was a bit concerned With that photo( it looks closer than it is)
Do you mean the valve covers ? I’ll replace the bling chrome covers when I get it home

Valve covers certainly, but the industrial tins are these jobbies

The oil pipes also look to be hanging a bit low, might be worth getting them up a bit.

Nothing wrong with those valve covers,they are from scat.
And not chrome but stainless
I have the same on the engine in my beetle.
They also clear the high lift rockers.
Waht are the specs off the engine?

Actually - they do look alright - just zoomed in. Held on by bail arms so shouldn't leak like most of the ally stuff.
