Manufacturer of checkered lino flooring?

Manufacturer of checkered lino flooring?

by Sam » Fri Nov 24, 2006 4:59 am
Hi

I'm looking to put some checkered lino flooring in the the splitty - ideally i want dark clue/white check 'tile effect', but will settle for the boggo standard black and white.

problem is NOBODY in Australia sells this stuff... does anyone know the name of a manufacturer that I could look up?

I want solid colour, no ripple effects or owt

cheers

Sam, try a few carpet or flooring shops.
I bought some here in Adelaide, its available in most shops, at least 3 within 2 kms of my home.

I am sure they had other colours as well.
They told me they didnt stock it but could get it in.
Heres a pic of the stuff I used.

I think mine was manufactured by Jaymart... they may have Oz distributers...

http://www.jaymart.net/

But they might not do it anymore.

Do a google search on 'vinyl flooring'

Just searching back through old threads about this it seems that B and Q marley tiles are the recommended retro tiles, but there is a disagreement about the size of the original Devon floor tiles, some people say 9inches sqr others 10inches sqr. Which is correct?

Just a set of beetle rims I painted when I painted the van, Atlas whitewalls and Bobs your uncle.
Cheap set of wheels.

Hmmm... I tried a few vinyl places in Perth and couldn't find anything similar - it seems its not really the 'in' style in flooring at the mo. I'll dig a bit harder (like with buying anything for the splitty over here, grrrr!)

Dave - the stuff you got in Adelaide, was it individual tiles or just off a roll?

Off the roll, easy to lay ( I will leave that alone??)
Came in two types, a thick one or a cheaper thin one.

Cost me about $50 for an off cut of about 3m x 3m

Sam, B&Q http://www.diy.com here in the UK have chequered black and white tiles, look OK. Maybe some kind soul will post you some if you ask here. I'm going to use Marley - marleyflor Plus comes in 2M widths or large 210mm tiles at £100 a box. its pricey but quality. Has a very slight marbling on it that doesn't look cheesy. Marley must have a website somewhere that might send you samples out, they had loads of tasteful colours. roll is £15 a sq M. on a 2M wide roll.
I'm using FL64 Red Pepper, which looks like sealing wax red, matched with FL55 Ivory. They had a blue or two also.

See what Andy can do.

He stopped me in the petrol station last week when I was filling the bus up & introduced himself, very nice guy and he showed me some excellent samples of flooring he does.

I think it is about £7 sq/m, so about £28 & you are on to a winner!

I don't want to get anything sent out from the UK really - Australians on theis forum will know how ridiculously expensive this is (especially for such a cheap and heavy thing!).

Dave, do you know the name of the shop/manufacturer you got yours from... I could look them up over west.

Thanks for responses ;)
