Where did they get pre 1960 from ?

Good News ?? With all the modifications done today i'd be a bit wary, maybe take along for a pre MOT test anyway, just to make sure all is safe ........... :?: After all, your only saving the price of an MOT :?:

I don't like this.

No bit of paper to prove to the old bill when you're pulled that it's been safely rebuilt despite its appearance

Will the DVLA organise tougher inspections when you register an imported vehicle rather than sending off your MOT from your friendly local garage?

Less run-of-the-mill work for the VW restorers out there? Pushing up prices for other work?

More death traps hacking down the M5 with a family of four in.

............ and how long until we can only use these "exempt" vehicles on weekends or for "club & show" purposes like some of our European friends.

Dunno, maybe you're right and I need to cheer up :? :? I do find stuff like this a bit worrying though. It worked ok.... why meddle?

This is bad news in my book, very bad ... (And I've got a '59 ...)

Last MOT my tester picked up a brake problem I had missed, because I never slammed on the anchors in it. It was a weeping brake cylinder.

I like the peace of mind of having an MOT test for stuff like this.

Yeh I agree with that Mike but I'm more worried about registering the next project when it's rebuilt. Some inspector down the local centre who's used to checking chassis numbers on 5 year old rice burners....... getting all worried about your rusty, moss covered rat ride.

Also it might mean that something doesnt have to actually work in order to get it taxed and therefore registered... free project storage on the sides of the road with a shiny tax disc in the window!!

I think it would still be worth having the brakes and suspension checked over once in a while. It does worry me that some people will skimp or ignore repairs just so they can drive thier classic or because they can't afford to have the repairs done.
And what happens to imported vehicles, do they have to have an MOT or inspection to get the registration docs?
Its going to save us a £1 a week.. :? wow
