Who broke what in Camberg??!!!!

Who broke what in Camberg??!!!!

by Dai » Tue Jun 26, 2007 11:39 am
So then, who 'got away' with roadside repairs on their trek?? We had a few, heres what I can remember:

Tim's (23a)brakes binding in the '51

Mark's (52panelvan) rear brakes binding

Graham and Debbie's rotor arm bending!!

Mike and Suzie's ignition lead failing

Steve Googe's coil lead breaking

Deano's (54doubledoor) timing and steering box stiffening

Mark's (52panelvan...again!!) service station dynamo swap

My vacuum pipe falling off

...and my slight little'singeing' in the engine bay...!

That was our little convoy's issues as fas as I can remember, also theres the girl at the campsite's '64ish bus that cooked the crank, getting a new engine for it yesterday hopefully, anybody else 'got away with it'??

Oops! forgot about the brake lights!!!

Mark (52panelvan...again!!!) managed to have his brake light on for the entire duration of the trip across on the ferry.... 4 hours!!! and Deano's brake light needed a little TLC as well!!!

I told Mark that after he waved his magic hands over our bus that Mike and I had to get divorced................... as Mike wanted to marry him!

That man is a star, even if he does eat cold beans out of the can!

Fixed my semaphore bulb too..!! that Pascal gave me..

Dont forget the fan belts... Mark and my fan belts shredding all over the engine bay due to a rough surfaced pulley wheel.

And my speedo packed up yesterday 300 miles not knowing how fast i was going  :? :D

Still in limburg, in the awning waiting for the rain to stop.

Speedo cable broke in dover, so all the way here and back will have no idea of speed.

Ah well.

I also had a sticky starter solenoid, had to make several trips to the back of the Kombi with hammer in hand...

Well we did not make it . We got half way through Belgium, and lost 1st,3rd and reverse mostly a clutch problem i think. So had to turn round and try and get back home. The fuel pump died in no mans land between customs and the tunnel, so we did the last 200 miles with no fuel pump, but we got home. 600 miles from 11.30 thursday to 3am friday 2 breakdowns and 3 forward gears and next to no clutch. Not bad but I am gutted to have missed it, i have been looking forward to it since Hessish.

That is not the end of it , We went out in the chevy hot rod on Sunday on the peak run with the Triumph sport 6 club, bottomed out the front vallence, accelerator stuck open, very scary, got away with a damaged front wheel and scraped wing, and consider ourselves very lucky, it has approx 350 bhp. To finish a bad few days a lady in a VW passat ran into the back of it at a T junction on the way home causing a lot of damage!!

Beat that for a crap few days    8O :(

lost a wiper arm (drivers side of course  ) on the way to bbt, just as the heavens were opening at their harshest

was able to pick up a new (much more effective, even if it is a bug one instead of a split one) one from bbt and thank god i did with all the rain on the way home!

then, talk about timing....

lost a grub screw from the gear linkage coming down the hill on sunday into camberg

stuck in 1st gear but was able to roll all the way into the carpark and picked up a new one from a trader for 1 euro!

bargain!

sadly, coming out of hull was hit by a flying stone from a passing lorry and cracked my headlamp glass

not had a great time with glass of late

but, a fantastic trip with very few problems, roll on 2011!
