Mate - I dreamed about buying a bus for 10 years

I finally found myself in a position a few years ago to be able to afford one

It turned out to be a bit of a lemon - We sorted the problems out and I have a bus to my spec which I love

Several issues

It's a BIG BIG world out there - ebay - forums - autotrader etc etc

How do you propose to 'police' this little lot with your 'trader' tag ?

If you want a cheap bus - be patient and look harder - watch exchange rates - busses move around the world according to what is strong - the pound yen dollar etc. a 20% fluctuation in a currency can make a cheap bus

I've never sold a bus

But in life if you see a bargain - what's wrong with buying it ?

That might be a bike a house or a splitty hubcap ?

Food for though my friend

You live in a capitalist world wether you like it or not

If you don't - go to Cuba or Russia ?

BUT....

this fella didnt sell it on here
he bought it on here, then sold it via his website , which is very clear that he deals in top end motors

he could never have been forced to show his cards on here as he's not daft enough to sell it on, on the forum he bought it from a week before
or are you suggesting everyone including buyers should be flagged as traders on this website, cos thats a mighty lot of admin to enforce on people for no real benefit that I can see ??

feel free to find out the facts and fight the crusade, good on ya, but i honestly dont think there are many people on this forum selling buses to rip people off, its a pretty small community, most people know most people...or the buses getting sold, and anything out of the ordinary stands out like a sore thumb

I think its great idea, lets do it

slammeddeluxe, I'm not suggesting that professional traders should be removed from site.

My suggestion is that professional traders add the tag to their profile, if they don't, a mod/ admin could add the tag to their profile if discovered.

"BUT....this fella didnt sell it on here"

I know that, but he posed as a collector hiding his true intentions. I read quite a lot of ads and all sellers truly love their buses and some are fussy about who the bus is sold to. However, there is a current ad which someone spotted as a professional dealer.

I don't believe that any traders are intending to rip anyone off. As I said above, it's the law, it's open and honest and protects buyers on the forum. I'm not about to spend £500 on a Ford Fiesta, but our entire life savings/ house deposit on potential lemon. I need to know that I have some legal protection before parting with a huge sum of money.

At the end of the day you are buying a minimum of a 45 year old bus. If its from a trader or otherwise what protection do you have against buying a lemon ? Very little I would think

If you want a reliable, rust free daily driver keep your money and by a T5 !

If however you are prepared to drive the worlds most iconic vehicle. Become part of a friendly society and get your hands dirty

Welcome aboard !
