Having heard and read the poor reviews of Creative Engineering over the years but always with the caveat that the products are good it's just the service that's a shocker. I went into my latest purchase with eyes wide open. Calling and then emailing to make sure the safaris of the correct year and style were indeed in stock before placing my order, surely nothing could go wrong???

2 weeks later, still no parts, no contact, no apologies, oh and they decided to charge my card for more than the order too. If it wasn't bad enough that they're incompetent, they're now stealing money too.

Rant over, but will be sure to update you with whatever pathetic response they come up with.

I had a pretty complicated order as I had some good pop outs, some seals left from the samba, screws missing from original pop outs...

The order was something like

Front Safaris full set
2 pop out frames
4 pop out glass
4 hinges
40 new style bolts
20 old style bolts
4 window to frame seals
6 glass to frame seals
5 bus seals

Or something similar.

Mandy laughed and said ok, took my card details. The transaction was taken 4.20pm Tuesday. The order arrived PERFECT Thursday morning.

The now welded frames are great and I cannot fault the quality, service or people at all.

Yeah well things do seem to go right for you Sooty! I reckon I'll still use CE but not if I'm in a hurry. Maybe if you can pm me your card details Sooty then I'll get the parts quickly :wink:

I've ordered lots from them too. A few bits came wrong, but when phoning, even months after the order they have been friendly, helpful and apologetic and sent out the other parts with next day delivery. I would always recommend them.

The reply is absolutely brilliant, direct and full response -

"Hello David, We have been working from the customers who ordered first. You are now one of the next ones to be sent safaris. We are sorry for the delay but the polishers are struggling with the volume. They will be sent this week and I can then give you the tracking number. The extra £10 is for the courier charge explained in the the home page, kind regards Mandy"

So firstly my name is Dean not David, great start there CE!

Secondly "in stock" for CE doesn't mean that they have the product to sell, it means that they can get hold of it and then they can send it to a polisher and then just maybe they might deliver it.

And finally you send an order confirmation with an invoice for £495 and then charge £505 and think it's fine to send an invoice not relating to what they're actually going to take in payment.

I'm sure they get it right sometimes but what rubbish controls and policies for customer service. If they'd explained any of this at any point, or simply said it was a 3 week lead time then I wouldn't have a problem, just don't tell me something is in stock and then blame everyone else for why 3 weeks later it's not been dispatched.

Pathetic.

The safaris are unfortunately no better than the customer service. Anyone that thinks these are a quality bit of engineering clearly got a better set than me. Back they go for a refund.

In my experience CE are a crock of sh1t! I would 100% NEVER use them again for ANYTHING EVER. Period!

I ordered a pair of doortops
They told me they were in stock so I bought them they took payment
2weeks later they still hadn't arrived
I was told they had a few jobs more important than putting my doortops together but I was next
A further 2weeks later I called and was told they were at the polishers
A further 2 weeks later when I called and asked for a refund I was told they would be with me in a couple of days
They were but 6 weeks for an item they had in stock
