Rechromed door handles
by Rocket Ron » Tue Sep 24, 2019 2:21 pm
I have a couple of pairs of late push button door handles, I've been asked to look into the cost of rechroming a cargo door handle for someone and as single item would not be worth the drive there and back then collect and back just for that, so I thought, anyone need a rechromed pair to make it worth while, cab door handles that is, I'll try to get a cost per handle then see if it's worth me doing.
If that is successful, then I have a box of sliding window catches that defo need doing...all genuine too.
So, feed back please..

Well I've had a quote unseen of £55 plus vat.= £66
They are going to be there or there abouts, so going on that assumption, then bare would be about £110 per handle
Im hoping to have a pair or two for myself and fit them with correct L code barrels, I'd like to make two pair, so I'd probably have four or six singles for sale.
Now if we are all keen, I have a very large stash of old side front slide window catches which would come up nice so from my side, I'm hoping to try a deal with them, I'd like to think the more you get done, the cheaper it might work out, only a thought.
Chroming has and allways will be expencive, but once done, it dun half look good..

I have a pair of handles (which I got from you) which could do with chroming, so potentially interested, but price dependant. My repros look fine, but they’re repro....
If we can get a large batch together does the price come down and if I send the handles as is, with existing barrels in, could you strip them ? I have L code barrels in my , so would switch them over.
Cheers

Well I guess if you supply the handles and pay postage..
I've only been quoted that price unseen, it may stay one seen or might go up, I don't know till they see them, badly pitted sometimes is not worth doing..

Going to chromers next week, now please read......
A quote is just that, over the phone, my UNSEEN units are £66 inc, once seen that may go up,
WHY....pitted handles take longer to do....very little wear is easier to do.
SO....if you have pitted handles, expect to pay a big more.
I WILL....do exchange, but if not worth doing, you will pay more as I'll bin them and loose my stock.
Those out there who expect something for very little, buy repro.
Sorry, but doing this has never been cheep, and never will be, but looked after, you will only do it once.
I've not bought a repro handle in my life, and I'm not rich, but this is the way I work, old school.
So, once I get a firm result, you will know.
Thanks
Rocket Ron
