Its been a while but I've managed to knock up the rear cupboard. Never again  Next time I get offered a replica devon part I'll be buying it whatever the price

Its not perfect but fills the gap......

I now just need to work out how to build an overhead table holder....oh and the table, so if anyone has any photos / plans for this I'd really appreciate it.

Are you planning on having a big overhead table and a dinette table?

Nice job on the cupboard, you must be pretty proud of the fit to the side panel on that curved edge.

Thanks for all the comments. I'd planned to have the normal table that fixes to the side / magazine rack. Hopefully then store this above the rear seats. But open to suggestions. I don't want a second table for outside the van.

Cheers

Excellent work so far, I'm just down the road from you in Shavington, I've got a late '66 devon, if you need any measurements for the table or would like to see mine let me know mate.

Made up the cover for the table leg holder cupboard thingy

Image

What handle / hole should it have for opening? Should it be like the sliding door for the cupboard above the rear facing seats you can see at the front of the van? On that subject does anyone know if the holes should have a chrome inset, or just left as they are?

I still need to make the overhead table holder but should I also make up rear cupboards for the rear of the van or just get panels made to cover the paintwork? :bounce:

Cheers......

It should have a chromed knob...attached to the lid towards the edge but just below the edge so that it does not sit above the profile of the bead on the rear seat back.
I will post a picture.
Hard to find an OG style one..But an in style one can be found. I will post a picture of what it should look like and one attached to the lid.
Your interior is looking really good...
You have come a long way...
It is a real credit to you. ..
You will need to fit the upper rear panels and maybe lower rear panels first....then you can decide upper cupboards or not..
For 1963...your bus could/ likely not have had rear cupboards and would have looked like this. ..

Image

But your interior you have been sympathetically modifying making is just slightly later and the rear table leg cupboard would go well with upper cupboards in the rear...so you could make cupboards to suit...
Maybe like those from the early 1964 model like maddison has...
I can post pictures... or like the 1965 MY..

Looking really nice. Top work.

The bulkhead slider unit has metal finger pulls which you haven't yet fitted from what I can see?

The photo above is a 62 overhead table mount with a square cupboard on one side (obscured by the curtain) so looks like no cupboards but actually has one. 63 onwards has symmetrical cupboards on each side with simple metal over-catches to keep them closed. 64/5 some time the catches changed but the cupboard remained the same until the end of splits in 67? I have a spare pair from 63 which need re-laminating. I have one from a 67 Spaceway too but that isn't spare.

For the rear table leg locker, I have a 66 one for reference. Search my photobucket (clymoj). 3/4 of the length lifts and has a black plastic handle in the middle (66 had those handles anyway though). The other quarter is static. My one is being sold next weekend so can take pics and/or measurements when I get it out. Graham says prior to the plastic handles it has a metal knob though so for yours this would be the way to go.

63 rear overhead cupboards. These came in in 63 I think which had the sink unit to the side like yours (64 had angled corner cooker unit, 62 had same sink but different rear cupboard).

The over-centre catch makes them 63-?. I have seen two other styles, one with a circular metal catch (in a photo, not in real life) and then later the same cupboards but with the black plastic handles. Someone may be able to tell you exactly when they changed?

and 65 with chrome fittings:-

If anyone has a nearside 66 please let me know, I will then have a 65 nearside and offside pair for sale!

Interesting, the one quarter part of your table leg locker is hinged. The one I have in my shed is fixed.
