Sorry, not much to report. Still trying to locate the original interior, apparently some of it is in a locked storage container and I have talked to the previous owner. One day he will open it up and drag it out but he told me not to hold my breath, I keep telling myself, patience is a virtue.

I have recently crossed to the darkside and bought a T25 Westfalia camper, been doing a bit of work on that to ready it for our Nationals happening this Easter weekend. After the Nationals weekend we have the Type2 Tour of New Zealand, a two week tour organised by a couple of die-hard Kiwi VW enthusiasts, this is huge for us. There are over 60 kombi's registered now.

Image

I have set up a blog for people to follow us around, spread the word to anyone you think might want to check out our progress.
The blog address is ....... http://type2tour.wordpress.com
It will kick off proper next week when we all set off for the Nationals.

PS The banner photo on the blog was taken by Neil aka Sausage Fingers when we were all in Hessisch, the Kiwi contingent won the furthest travelled award.

Hey thanks A67 MAN, I was so stoked to see your post that I forgot to reply!
Does anybody know who the seller is? I emailed the seller pleading with them, I asked if it was possible to take a heap of interior photos.
If anybody finds out anymore, could they email me or post up in here, thanks. I included a link to this thread also in my email.
Was awesome to see another Kombi with the solid Velvet Green paint.
Thanks again.

The interior in the photos above now sits happily in my living room, arrived yesterday after a bit of a delay due to the earthquake.
It is actually quite good, the bits that are buggered and need re-building are all the simple pieces, all flat panels. All the cabinets are in great condition with the added patina of 45 years of use.

It is cleaning up well, so far it appears all the latches, catches and handles etc are there.

I am still curious about how the cargo door table works? I remember reading that the little stand is detachable, I have what looks like it may be it, a small table/stand with little hooks on it. I'm wondering if it hooked into a couple of small brackets that were mounted on the cargo door and then the stand supported by a cable support or something, very hard to see in the brochures.

Will post photos as I clean it all up.

The main table is in very good condition and has the 5 leg plates.

Who would ever have thought an original Torvette interior would show up, amazing.

Thanks type21f

The little brackets look like them, the little table however looks different in the brochure for the Torvette Standard, a couple of things, the brochure table looks wider than the cargo door and it doesn't appear to have the alloy moulding around the edge.

It actually looks like it has an alloy stepped section that maybe doubles up as a piece to fill in for the bed maybe.

Type21f, if you enlarge this page of the brochure you emailed me you can see it clearer.

This is going to be fun trying to work it all out!!

mmm I see what you mean... and I sent the 65/6 brochure scans...LOL.

I posted a thread on how to make up a standard Torvette bed...using the lid from the seat behind the driver's seat to start the bed...and posted pictures of using the flap on another thread...

I believe you have the easicool in the back with the pull out flap and metal legs to sit on and the cooker (you got from the forum) still sits on the division behind the passenger...is there a lid here which can be used as a door flap?

I thought there was?

Maybe need to sit and think awhile...

I take it you do not have anything that you can disconnect that looks like it might be like the little table....

Yep, I have been doing a lot of that!!

I think once the Kombi is ready to take the interior it will become a little more obvious as to how it all works.

There is a small panel that could double up as a small table, it doesn't have any sign of fixing it though. The previous photos ypou posted that show the little hooks and catches look like they maybe there when you enlarge your brochure scans.

All exciting stuff, I will keep searching, you never know.

I have recently made contact with the previous owner again and this time he seems a lot more keen to help out, I'm hoping he has a couple of pieces stashed in a container, rumour has it he does.

Interesting, just looking at this photo ........... and realised I have this unit and the board as well, it is hinged to the small removable unit, has formica one side and black the other.

What other function does this serve, anyone?

Here it is again ........... this photo shows the little hooks/catches better

I think the whole marketing strategy of the Torvette was the ability to open up the rear and it gave you the floor space to carrry things that are bulky . So I thought that this was just the same "buddy box" arrangement as the WT Spaceway. The standard having the long slder above...

Can anyone confirm this is the correct position for the little 'Torvette' badge on passenger door? This is the best photo I could find, one that type21f posted sometime back.

Any other photos or links to would be great as well, thanks.

AFAIK.....
Devon fitted their internal model badges always in the same place.
On the passenger door at the top.

Image

If it had a Martin Walter pop top that badge was located alongside.
Early metal Caravette followed by plastic Caravette and Torvette....
I can measure precise hole locations if you would like for the two rivets.
