Desperately seeking ........ 66' Devon Torvette photo's

One thing I note about the picture you posted..it seems as if the panel has been retrofitted...more retainers down the front. Standard panel has 11 IIRC.......and the badge position looks too high...

Thanks Graeme.

The location of the two look to be the same, I have the same chrome clips so will space it evenly between the two. Mine has the Dormobile top, i am keeping an eye open for that badge (if you know of one!!) Was the Martin Walter badge alongside or underneath?

Yeah, I took note of that. I used the two hacksaw blade method to locate the holes for clips.

Not checked but they look the same badges on VW and Land Rover...conversions..

****EDIT Checked...These are the stick on VW Bay window style...not at all like the Split ones EDIT****

Not worth asking if they plan to make any more..
I have a photo...of an OG..
I will keep an eye open..
Someone taking off a MW pop top...may have one for sale. ..

Awesome photo, thanks Graeme, I have only ever seen the Caravette sign with the Martin Walter below.

I still have an original door card, will look for signs!

Dragged out my old original door card and could see evidence (rivet holes), of where the 'Torvette' badge mounted, no sign of the 'Dormobile' badge though? I'm now thinking there never was one?

I will still look for a badge...

Does it have belly pans M191?

It does have the M191 code!
396 191 543
Result....
Found the build date too 23 N
23/11/ 1964..
Catherine the 1965MY Caravette..
Knew it was first Registered in January 1965..

So if it has those codes..Devon ordered it less rear seats with Belly Pans to fit the roof...

Maybe the new owner did not want the badge fitted...
Or they ran out of badges or it was mounted on another panel or piece of interior. .
Or maybe even that is not the original door panel and only the torvette badge was saved. ..

After 50 years things get hazy...

There is a stick on copy available inexpensive..
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-T1-T2-Splits ... nav=SEARCH

Not an exact copy...Maybe a bay one...or a landy. ..
Later ones were silver..
Misses details that were on the Split one. .

Thanks Graeme, yes I had seen them on ebay

My door card is definitely original, so if they were riveted on as it seems they were, then my bus didn't have one.

Kind of cool though so will definitely keep my eye out for one.

I always thought it an odd combo, where you have a base model Kombi with Torvette interior and with the 'Rolls Royce' of pop tops! Might even be the reason there wasn't the Martin Walter badge?
