I've finally got around to photographing all the pieces of the interior separately, I'm going to put them on eBay this weekend so if anyone has any offers for any of the bits let me know tonight before I put them up. I'll put them under' VW Splitscreen Devon Torvette Interior'

Cheers

Perfect, especially this one!!

Just awesome, this is the first time I have seen a Torvette interior set up so complete. It is the finer details of how the cabinets mount that I am keen for more info on.
The last four photos showing how the floor cabinets fit to the bulkhead are just what I was after, never seen this before!!!
A huge thank you for posting these.

And that floor!!!!

This is a brilliant pic for me too and gives me some desperately needed answers. How does the movable seat (nearest the door) affix to the floor, so that it doesn't just float about? It also confirms that the interior I have is complete (bar the cooker).

I have just got to this stage myself this last week gone! This cabinet was designed to be easily removed so I wouldn't think it was ever mounted to floor? Starting with the cabinet in the top left corner against long panel and up against bulkhead, there is evidence of this cabinet mounting to floor in two places with small 'L' brackets ....... this cabinet has 3 recessed 'cylinders' on top surface, that take about a 10mm long pin, red arrows show their location in first photo below. The front cabinet you ask about has a pin on the underside edge that 'locks' into place in the recessed sleeve in the back left cabinet, enlarged below in 2nd photo.
The other 2 recessed cylinders, (indicated by red arrows) locate the small panel that forms part of the backrest, the top of which sits in under the long cabinet along bulkhead.

The three arrowed inserts in my cabinet were all full of 'crap', took me awhile to work this out. I cleaned them out using a drill the same size. I also had to remake the locating pins using a hardened steel hinge pin that I epoxy glued into place. Two of the old pins had 'broken out' of the original position and were missing completely!

Hope this helps?

I always thought it was a spike located in the fixed seat that located into the moveable seat. While having a look at my van to take some photos I realised it had pulled out of the moveable seat and was now stuck in the fixed seat leaving a spike!

I've now taken the pin out to re-fix and it looks like this:

I've just been epoxying my pin back into the moveable seat and realised you can also mount it like this. I guess for a single bed or to store out of the way.
There's a hole for the pin on the edge of the long seat. It's sitting a little high as it's on the carpet tiles.

I have to say that this thread is invaluable to me... I'll be able to get mine back together now.

I've noticed that I'm missing that piece of wood that seems to affix to the bulkhead (the lighter wood in the left of the picture above). It looks easy to replicate but how does it affix?

You learn something new every day!! I've never seen the cabinet located like that before, awesome.

Where do you put your table when not in use?

There is a bit of work on that piece, would be easy to replicate however. The piece fits flush against the spare wheel well so needs a couple of angled recesses to miss the ribs on wheel well pressing. Mine was attached with large screws from behind passenger bench seat inside cab, then through bulkhead into the piece mentioned. I will get a photo for you when I can.

Just celebrating the All Black win!!!!!

Raced out to the garage to re-arrange my cabinet and bugger me, there is the little brass hole recessed into the leading edge of the rear seat/cabinet. I can't believe I missed this. So impressed with the floor space it frees up, that was the intention with the Torvette though, use as a trade vehicle during the week then re-set and off camping for the weekend!

I am still looking for a surviving example or period pictures of exactly this area on a 1962 Devonette. I cannot find an example...
I do have the holes...but I also have a full microbus drinks tray that was fitted..with holes in too
I suspect it had a similar wooden bearer exactly like this..
A67MAN showed exactly this bearer..on his 1958 Caravette MkIll
