Desperately seeking ........ 66' Devon Torvette photo's

The stove (no need to be sorry...I will find another...for my Devonette...) looks absolutely superb.
I shall be looking for some alloy...to make a shield I have no doubt...
I have only ever seen a similar box on one torvette... through the window of a closed up van at a show. Despite lurking and moving my car to sit and wait for the owner to come back. .I never did get to meet owner or get access to photo.
My friend Mark Buckingham has a 1966 L512 kombi Torvette Spaceway but I have never checked his cooker layout..

If you have them at hand that would be great.
Neil (TractioMan) sent me a couple of photos and I made these based on them, the hole pattern I took from the original holes drilled in the cross brace you spoke about. Do these look anything like what you have? I might try to make a slightly heavier bracket, the part that screws to table.

Thank you.
I wanted to locate plates in the original holes but when making sure the table was level I needed to change the position of the slots slightly, the difference would be the thickness of the floor, old to new.

....also remember that the table mounting plate pulls up onto the strip rivetted to the vertical side panels.
Over time my brackets had loosened and the PO had tightened the screws gradually the brackts had punched holes in the side panel..
The mounting bar below the VW side panel was a U shape ..I packed in the trough with hardboard and double sided tape so the packing was level with the edges of the U..
No more punching holes..

I have been re reading again and do admire your work on the interior panels...
What material are the interior boards? Sourced locally or made yourself from what?

Does anyone know of a Torvette or Devonette Kombi with a Dormobile pop-top? I am trying to confirm how Devon trimmed around the edges of the roof aperture. I have several off-white vinyl covered strips that 'fit', it looks correct but I have never seen any photos to confirm this.
My Kombi has no lining around the windows or anywhere in roof.
Cheers

I only know of a friend (Mark Buckingham) with a 66 Velvet green kombi Torvette Spaceway...alas... No pop top.
But he is very helpful and I think he will provide pictures of his for cab and general headlining details.
I think I already shared my suspicions and I am sure they are shown in a brochure I have
http://www.devonmoonraker.pwp.blueyonde ... onette.jpg
This is the first (I think...) Devon brochure mention of a Martin Walter Pop Top fitted to a Devon and the photos show a Kombi with pop top fitted...
Or it may be in an original copy of a Factory photo I have (obtained from an ex employee that I think shows a pop top fitted to a kombi..)
I will scan the photo if it shows any detail..
Kombi came with grey over cab panels like panel vans and painted grey round the windows.
I do not think they came with headlining at all but got to check..will scour the brochures...
I suspect on Devons that Devon filled the gaps like Dormobile with boards?...and trimmed the rear gap between the rear edge and the rear cupboard also with a board!
Maybe also want pictures of Devon Caravettes on kombis with and without pop tops and period Dormobiles to show how the edge was trimmed
1961 Dormobile brochure shows a Martin Walter pop top fitted to a Caravette but this started with a headlining
http://www.devonmoonraker.pwp.blueyonde ... mobile.pdf
You know I have always wondered about the trim around the Dormobile pop top opening which has a pocket all around which would allow the fitment of a board..
Bay window buses have boards fitted...

The info above about the Corvette Kombi is correct, boards above in cab area, no headlining and painted grey around windows.
The roof at rear behind pop-top is sorted, that board was still in place and covered with a paper thin vinyl headlining. I need to do down the two sides and across the front. The front edge has a grooved PVC moulding that takes the strip from pop-top to cab roof, about 100 - 150mm wide. I have searched high and low for a photo, but to no avail. I am going to replicate the strips I have and just hope they are correct.
Is that a little 'Torvette' nylon badge mounted under the Volkswagen script on rear hatch?

Mark has now retired and has lots of time...to follow his passions. He is very involved teaching at a local sailing club and hence carries some of his equipment. I met him by following him home from Malvern Vanfest one year...all the way to only a couple of streets away!
He took the bed making photos for me..
It is indeed a Torvette badge. ....Nylon/ Plastic I think
Along the same lines as the very OG badly faded patina'd one on my 1965 Caravette cargo door..
OG looks like this...
I was very lucky and saw an advert on eBay for one brochure...and bought it..
I corresponded with the seller and turned out he was selling on behalf of his Father an ex employee. He would not sell asa job lot but wabted to sell BIN and he kindly informed when he was selling and I bought sale by sale 31 items including this..
I can send a scan of the badge for you to photoshop into a Torvette badge and replicate into plastic....
LOL

One of the Factory Photo shows a 1964 Narrow Hatch bus...Devonette? with Pop top but is it on a Kombi? Need to study
I will kick the scanner into life and do a high res picture of this...
Thought there were no bunks to hide the details..but there are...Interesting! May just be able to aee if it is headlining!
It all depends on the resolution of the photo and the scanner!

Hi Graham
I would love to repro these badges and may have found someone who can remake them in the OG silvery stuff. Would you be kind enough to scan the badge and send me a copy to my email b.johnson@btinternet.com ? The Torvette I mentioned has what was described as a 'mint' interior so I'm looking forward to taking some pics! It's a walkthrough so should be interesting.
Just picked up what may be a Devon Car Tent minus poles. It's in 'as new' condition and huge. Maddy is getting very excited about it. I need to clear some space to unroll the beast! It has an awning skirt with it in the same condition - never been used.
Cheers
Brian
