1956
Still researching to see when Devon Conversions were started as J P White of Sidmouth and Lisburne Garages of Torquay.
Peter Pitt Campers started in 1956.
I have a photograph of an example of this Pitt Brochure and a letter to a customer (which sold on ebay....I missed it.... but) I now have bought a copy of the first Pitt brochure.... ..
Input welcomed!!!!

1957
Great debate about the date of the first Devon Brochure...but I believe it is 1957..
This was the first of the many brochures printed by Goss Albion of Torquay... Not dated.
Newspaper adverts first appeared around this date... I will look through my collection to establish the first date I can see evidence of am sdvert being published.
I have some Earls Court Motor Show brochures and I will look out the first date Devon took a stand. I did quite a bit of research for the introduction of the Devonette model on October 1961 but have not looked in detail about when Devon Conversions started..
The Green version came first.
The paper the btochure is printed on is green on the outside and a plenty shade of yellow, printed in black. Probably quite an expensive brochure to print.
This was probably contemporary with / or slightly later than the first Peter Pitt Brochure. I have at last got a copy of both!
Next came the slightly later version with a plain white cover - probably the second version exactly the same but with standard plain paper
I will add scans of my copies.
Around this time a Devon Camper hire flyer was printed. ..
Watch this space.

1958
No printing date on the brochure
This mk1 and mk11 brochure was probably printed over 1958 and 1959. It does not have a printing date. I have several copies. There are subtle variations with examples with new photos stuck over the printing and with pieces of paper stapled onto the brochure.
The mk1 was the cheaper sparser version.
The mk11 came with the optional osokool food storage cabinet, four gallon detachable water storage tank and hinged wash basin built in as a unit to match the interior finish (as detailed on the back page of the brochure)
One way in which these can be dated as being in use is that the AA had a service to send its members copies of brochures on demand.
I have copies of brochures with letters from Devon to American Customers....as evidence of when it was supplied.
This price list is dated 1/09/58
I will attempt to sort them into an order and explain the changes..
I have several examples of price lists, some with print dates on the top or bottom and some with AA stamps which help ring the changes..

1959
The mk1 mk11 brochure continued through 1959.
Changes were made in 1959 with the addition of a door cupboard to hold the cooker so that the cargo doors could be opened and you could cook outside.
The curved cupboard top space was freed up inside for extra storage.
The changes were shown first with pictures stuck over the earlier ones and the addition of stapled improvements notes.
Later the pictures were all changed and the last version of the 1959 brochure published.
This copy is mms bigger.
1959 version of the mk1 and mk11 brochure with added strip and dated 2/02/1959 by the AA
Cooker no longer inside in the top of the curved unit
Cooker now in the unit on the door with the segmented lid...
On this version of the brochure the extra picture has been glued on the back blank page over the printers name section.
The 1959 mk111 version for the traveller...
I need to search through the adverts but I believe this was first introduced in 1959..I will check..
The copies shown here have a spelling mistake in them in the centre...see if you can spot it..
The cooker on this model is now in the unit on the door and has moved from the top of the curved unit...
Maybe so the traveller could store his working files beside him!
The move is an example of the continuing improvement which took place...
Again the Earls Court Motor show brochures, dated price lists and adverts should clarify when this was first introduced
The version above.... The first version has a spelling mistake saying "by" when the sentence logic should say "be".
Still trying to find buy this version..
The later version??? With "by corrected to "be" ... my copy..

1962
In October 1961 (1962 MY) Devon launched a new model in the range - the Devonette.
The intention seemed to be to increase their range by the addition of a cheaper model based on a kombi...initial adverts and price lists were on a kombi.
It was hailed in the October 1961 Earls Court Motor show as "The least expensive camper on sale"
I have a March 1962 Devonette but on a microbus base.
Devon first placed an advert which showed the cooker mounted for use on the front cargo door. David Eccles kindly supplied me with an electronic version of the factory photograph used for this advert. This may well be a mock up or it may be an actual demonstration model. The position of the cooker mounted here seems impractical because you would have to remove it to close the door.
Then Devon launched a 1962 flyer to communicate the addition and then they included the Devonette as the centrefold of this brochure. The Devonette is shown on a microbus now with the cooker on the rear door.
This one dated 4th May 1962
Made in Devon on this version...later removed..
I suspect VW objected..

1963
This year saw the first separate Model Brochure that Devon published..
Devon published a brochure for the Devonette and one for the Caravette..
The Devon Deveonette model was a cheaper version introduced to try to find another market share..
Devon also produced a Caravette only brochure in this year and after lots of searching I eventually was lucky and found one... I bought 31 brochures from an ex employee and got this one.
