A sneaky preview :)
by ScottyN » Thu Dec 03, 2015 8:40 pm
I've just got back this evening from picking up the bus from Madmatz. I initially enquired about some flooring and, as with all things split related, it soon snowballed into new cards, curtains and flooring
Anyway, i'm still waiting for a new full set of cushions in Duracor style but thought i'd give you a sneak peek.... I'm VERY happy with it and can't recommend the guys there enough.

I hope I haven't upset the Devon gurus with non OG stuff but personally I love it!
Cheers,
Scott

Could you? well Devon did fit pop tops so it wouldn't be wrong ...but what year did they start?
Should you? you have such a lovely straight roof and nice headlining ...but it's your bus - would you get more use / joy out of it?
Where did you get the cushion material by the way?

Ealiest Pop top advertised fitted to Dormobile was October 1961- probably for 1961 Motor Show...off to look at my Show catalogue to check the pictures and adverts...LOL
Dormobile brochure here.. October 1961
http://www.devonmoonraker.pwp.blueyonde ... mobile.pdf
Also fitted by Westfalia to LHD ...not sure how early..
Also fitted by Dormobile Canada to LHD
Devon fitted Gentlux in 1962 ( in brochures dated October 1961) but not popular... were small and leaked...never seen one fitted..
Dormobile pop top first advertised by Devon in 1963 In brocures so MY63...
BUT could have been requested and fitted by Devon or Dormobile from 1961!
So OK date wise..
I have Gentlux fitted to my September 64 as aftermarket version...Larger!
I will update with exact dates from my brochures..
Nothing to say they were not fitted earlier at customer request..
MOST parts available but as said in facebook and other threads but not all!
Still looking for a suitable finisher for my Gentlux pop top hole..
LOL

Really nice job on the interior, the seat covers look very similar to mine, I wonder if they sourced the same fabric, yours fit better than mine though did you fit new foam? I have toyed with the idea of putting a pop top in but am so used to not having one now I can't see that I ever will - it's funny as well when ever anyone finds out you have an 'old VW camper' the first thing they ask is if it's one with the roof that pops up!
