I own a 66 Devon Torvette that I bought off 'the hatch' ............ link to older thread .......
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15347
We have been trying to track down the original interior for it but to no avail. I have decided to build my own to as close as I get and this is where I am hoping the SSVC members can help. The bus is a bulkhead model and they would appear to be as rare as rocking horse %#@*.
I am after any interior photos that show the layout well. There are 5 very small photos in one of David Eccles books that show a bulkhead Torvette but too small to see much. Does anyone know the owner of this bus?
It would appear that some of the cabinets are common among a couple of models, I just need better photos to confirm this. Any help or leads would be most appreciated.

grumble at
the hatch...D.I.C.S. do not delete their photo links...
the hatch repost those picture links...
I looked at that link years ago.It was one which came up with Duracour but referred to the tie backs?
You have got the Martin Walter pop top, right and you had some green duracour cover on one cushion.
Post some pictures of what you have and we will post pictures of the rest.
I remember the picture of the dicky seat which said to me it was a walkthrough? I thought it was a bulkhead model...but well was it a Torvette or a Caravette.
post some pics!
Have a look here at the 1965 1966 brochures http://www.devonmoonraker.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/OthersalesBrochures.html

LOL...When you let the flap down on the front seat and put it under the cushions, the one with the bump goes against the bulkhead and wheel well...your size 11s in the cupboard,,,try measuring the distance from the base of the rear seat to the bulkhead....
I think you'll find it is around 6 feet?
Trouble is you probably get pushed to the side nearest the doors!
You need a walkthru so your feet fit in the gap!
Lol

... the Founder of the D.I.C.S has given his word....
I do not see why it was thought to be a Torvette? Need to look at the brochure and your bus...
I was intrigued by the dickey seat which went over the easicool (hole in the floor). The easicool would be the one with the sloping back..
It is where the cooker would have been? I thought the dickey seat was so you could pull it forward to use the cooker behind the passenger seat...
There was/is one for sale on here..
Lets see them photos...

I have been talking with 'the hatch' tonight, I have been having my doubts about the interior being from a Torvette. We were wondering whether I had a late Devonette fitted to a 66 model bus, chassis number indicates an August built bus.
But according to David Eccles book ......... VW Camper - The Inside Story it mentions that Devon introduced the Torvette in October 65' And then looking again at the 5 small photos on page 57 I noticed in the top photo the full length cabinet that runs across the rear of bulkhead, this is the one cabinet that was left with the bus. So I am again thinking that it is a Torvette, ah the torment. Again, does anyone know the owner of this bus?
type21f, what i know for sure is that it is a 66 model Type 23 Kombi, paint code is 383883 which is Velvet Green upper and lower and the 83 is a Mesh Grey interior.
The hatch has forgotten his old password for photobucket but is looking into getting access to the photos.
And then there is the dickie seat, definitely there and covered in the same green fabric.

Bit of a longshot, but i wonder if the Devon factory still have records of which chassis numbers got what conversions? Now different owners, different location...but you never know

I remember the photos but I did not copy them! I don;t think...I'll look...
The all one colour makes it a Kombi..
brb..
The hole in the floor was for the easicool...
the dickey seat....mmm
StandardNo permanent woodwork on the cargo doors but brackets to support the door flap. for the wash bowl and then showing the flap in place! The cooker fitted on a shelf above the dickey seat in the Torvette I think!
Spacewayshowing the dicky pull out seat in use using the cooker which drops down behind the passenger seat
Seemed to have the same furniture...
Yes could be a Torvette

Thanks type21f for posting the brochure ......
I have a good idea of what the rear of the Torvette looks like. The roof mounted cabinet with the two door cabinet underneath this on the RH side and the wardrobe on opposite side. All the photos I have seen show this lay-out well. It would appear also that there is the two drawer flat cabinet above the engine etc.
What are the differences between the 66 & 67 Torvette? Can anyone tell me if in the first photo on page 57 of David Eccles book, The Inside Story, on the front/left cargo door, is that a crockery cupboard? and if so from what year? In the brochure of the 66 it shows the back/right hand cargo door with a larger than 'normal' wash stand, unlike the one 65Devy is asking about ......... viewtopic.php?f=46&t=58791
I have never seen both cargo doors open together!! It looks like the 67 has only the crockery cupboard, does the 66 have just the wash stand?
Surely they can't be that rare!!

On the Caravette, I believe the washstand and the crockery cupboards on the '66 and the 67 are exactly the same as the 65 except for the black plastic finger pulls..But....the Caravette Spaceway with the large cooker unit hinged had no crockery cupboard and no wash stand. It had a small flap table on the side of the large cooker unit which could be detached and attached to the cargo door as a wash stand.
I am unsure what the Torvette had... I'm still looking through the pictures I have
I will post pictures.....
1967 Torvette Spaceway
Has no door cupboards fitted at all

i was thinking that if the bus was fitted with the roof mounted cupboard you would see some fixing marks or something to indicate it being there??....as thats a torvette only option surely this could confirm or deny?
as for the pictures...sorry guys my laptop has coozed itself and is getting fixed......photobucket free accounts expire after one year inactivity...(i made a new account and forgot about that one!!) ....to get the pics back from pbucket is a hassle so i'll troll through my cd of backups instead. will be an easy find so i'll get them UP asap

I reckon the Torvette definitely had the dickie seat ......

Page 5 first picture shows the seat and the woman is sitting on it while cooking in the brochure that type21f posted above.

Devon usually introduced their year changes around the same time as VW rang the changes...
The '66 torvette did not have door furniture...The bus that A67man has sold he called a Torvette and that had the rear high cupboard but a Caravette front arrangement! It may not have been a Devon originally...
I always thought Torvettes had the hinged cooker on the walkthroughs (66 for sure - my friend has an OG) and the cooker on a shelf above the easicool on the standards, but the 67 i can't remember...
You should find an M code for No rear seats which would indicate it was delivered bare to Devon...
I will keep looking..
