Pics of cot fitted as requested, my 8 yr old daughter slept in ours until this year now she is just too tall (she's tall for her age)

Hi,
I really like your industry..I have a thread running in the Devon forum about Devon cots. I am very much in admiration of your OG looking Westy cot and poles and brackets.
Is the canvas green or grey? i like the cot boot you have made and wanted to enquire about making a full length boot/ bag to take the entire rolled up cot with sewn ends and poppers! So the cot could be rolled up and put in the bag and stowed in the bus somewhere, probably behind the front seats.
Whilst I would like to fit a westy version I am looking to make a copy of the Devon one.
I have pictures of the brackets and the poles and I will be making a Devon CAD version.. (cardboard aided design) The material I will be using will be Ross Portobello Stria and I'll probably need to use double thickness of material...because it is not as thick/stiff as the canvas
I aim to make some brackets and poles and set the height to match the pictures of the Devon cot I have!
I note your cot does not reach the ends of the poles, was this to match the OG dimensions?
Any advice would be very much appreciated! I'll probably not be doing the sewing so advice on thread strength and needles etc would help?
I can get pole lengths from thesamba but the devon poles sit in a different position no doubt.
How high are your poles up he A & B posts?
Regards Graham

The canvas is green, but the place we get it from does other colours, a full bag is a possibility, but as with all these things, as a one off would probably be quite expensive, happy to talk through if you want to go for it

Yes, to match original

Cant help a lot on this, other than it needs to be sown on an industrial machine (my mother, who used to be a professional seamstress (curtain maker), cuts and pins them) and then takes them to the local tarpaulin maker to get them sewn up

Hi Flip,
Maybe a bit late but here goes..
I've fitted a cot in the pr. westy and highroof and both have (had) safaries, never had any issues with them, the only difference is that you need to unscrew the nut on both the left and right side where the slider is so you can move this upwards as otherwise you can't fit the bars..
My kids love it, my daughter was 2 when she first when in it and last year (5) she still loved it in fact when you say it's bed time she jumps in it without a hassle and she sleeps for England in there

my wife just remade the whole fabric and we made so it's a very very tight fit and it doesn't "lay down" in the middle..
I don't have much pics but you can find a few in here where you can see how the bracket is fitted..
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=69312&hilit=roadtrip
or here but note that this was a test fit and the fabric was adjusted afterwards to make it better fit! (and is now completely re-done)
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=52403&start=60
Oh and you don't need to convience your lady, the kids will do that

Sorry to hi-jack your thread Neil.
Edit: found an old one

Up for Christmas presents!
Got a couple more coming in next week if anyone needs a cot - I'm afraid these will be going up in price in the new year, so last chance at this price
Cheers
