1954 RHD Barndoor Doubledoor

Hey Ron,
I'm lead to believe mine is L345 as per Cassie27 who was one of the previous owners.. ;)
Thanks for the comments Ron.. I will be uploading a few pics of Poppy in my bus..
I love Panels, I think you can get away with a lot more on them..

Mines not original or old, just well maintained and a big lump that's got some good bits on it, hence my price...

Barndoors van is just all the right answers hence his price.. ;)

Pitch it where you feel it fits.. Your timed requirement for sale will dictate the price I guess..

Any hoo... Onwards and upwards

Regards
Ben

Ben I priced this old bus to sell fast at £68k I'm surprised its still here for sale, You have no idea the amount of interest I have had but they all include taking something in part exchange, If I take something in part exchange I want it to be something I am happy to keep for a year or two. All the stuff I have been offered I would just want to stick straight back on the market and I cant be bothered with that. I have had no only cash offers but plenty of folks have told me they are trying to get the cash together also had lots of folk just want to waist my time by saying can I take a pic of this or that and then just disappear probably to go and waste someone else's time. There is barndoor projects on the market at the moment in the same ball park price wise as my panel and the 1950 kombi I swapped to get my hands on this bus is up for £80k, Granted Dai the owner/seller had a few quid to sink into it to make it road worthy. It wont be sat here for too long before it starts to look like a bargain and if I get attached again over the summer I may pull this advert and relist it this time next year for £80k, I know of barndoor busses out there that have changed hands under the radar for $250,000 and I still rate my panel as something just as special. I keep spotting bay window campers up for sale at £30k + and 21 window splits at £60k +, There is thousands of those buses out there so if you are looking for something seriously rare as just a good investment or a great base to something a little different this panel should look like a steal

I can see you have pal..

What PX's are you getting offered? Have you got a dealer local that can underwrite them for you just so you can get the funds straight away for them, then you don't have to consider selling their px?

I could get any of the possible people interested finance on your bus with a decent deposit, securing the bus now, and paying over a longer term, the amount of interest paid will be off set with the increased value in years to come..? And as the finance is lent against the van its easier to get than a Bank Loan...?

Just a thought.. HP and HP with a balloon to lower the payment? This could bridge the gap until they sell their PX and pay off some of the finance on there new purchase so they don't miss out on yours? The investment would off set any interest charges..

Apologies if you have all of the above options already in place.. :)

Regards

A couple of photo albums added to the first post for those that want to see more of this top notch panel

Had a few folks showing interest from overseas over the last few weeks but no one pulled the trigger yet.

After some chat over on Facebook about someone supposedly payed £100k for a late 1952 Panel imported from Columbia in recent days I thought I would stick my 54 doubledoor up on ebay and see what the general public value it at ;-)

Well on ebay I had over 15000 views and over 1000 watchers.

I also have genuine offers on the table from overseas.

I have tried all avenues to keep this bus in the UK even contacted Volkswagen Commercial UK.
They politely came back with this v v v

Dear Mr Branks

Thank you
for your recent regarding your T2 Volkswagen. Please accept my apologies for the
delay in our response.

I have spoken with my colleagues in our Marketing Team
with regards to your request. We would not be in a position to support
your
request at this time. Whilst your proposal presents an interesting opportunity,
our Marketing budget for the next two years
is already earmarked for other
projects.

As I am sure you can imagine, Volkswagen UK receive a number of
such enquiries and it is always with great regret when we are
not able to
support a request.

I would recommend speaking directly to Volkswagen
Retailers in your area. These Retailers are independent franchises who may
be
in a position to assist you, and to use the opportunity to increase their
profile regionally.

The contact details for all Volkswagen UK Retailers can
be found via the link below:

I hope
this information proves useful. If we can be of any further assistance, please
do not hesitate to contact us on the
number below.

Thank you for contacting
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

Yours sincerely

They are obviously happy with an Australian import for there promotions and dont care a bit about genuine heritage or the rarity of this bus in his own words

"As I am sure you can imagine, Volkswagen UK receive a number of such enquiries and it is always with great regret when we are not able to support a request"

So as far as they are concerned they get this chance all the time????????

Anyway back to the point this old bus will now drive you anywhere with no problem, Can MOT but its obviously exempt.

Sorry its not a bad-ass, Rat looker dragged from a swamp so you can follow the "in-crowd" like sheep

Don`t apologise for having a bus that isn`t swampy/ratty/rough, that is a thing of beauty. I`d have it in a heartbeat if I had the loot. Good luck with the sale.
