Cheers fella I am genuinely not happy that its not going to be staying in the UK and not even VW UK themselves have the foresight to step up. The bull about budgets got my goat as its like pennies to them..

I'll be willing to bet that their promo bus was not far off the price of yours after the resto!
Any of the eBay bidders actually serious or just reserve chasers?history is a big part of the classic car world, this has loads and I'm kinda surprised a serious buyer hasn't stepped up in the UK-theres enough huge bus fans and speculators here and its rarer(IMO cooler) and far more usable than late 365 Porsches and they are crazy money! I say use it over the summer lad,my common as muck LHD 54'DD could be bought for half if interested and this seems expensive
but some guys might wish they bought the rhd dd this year,if it hits the states it'll not be back and seem cheap in a couple of years if things keep heading the the way they are!

I think its cheap now Ljay never mind a couple of years.
I have only had one guy view it, His family own a VW dealership up this way and have done since the 1950s.
He liked the idea of getting it all sign written with his dealerships details.
He had no idea what he was looking at and asked some very strange questions.
The one that really got me was Do you think its as sought after as a 21 window?
I told him they were in a totally different league but dont think he believed me and this from a guy that asks me if its still running original cable brakes or has it been uprated to disc brakes?
Said he thought the early buses had cable brakes like early bugs.
FFS whats wrong with folk
No genuine interest from this side of the pond it would seem.
I can see me reluctantly taking the offer on the table and having to jump through the hoops with the DVLA etc etc
Its not going to be coming back so theres no point in letting the DVLA retain the number, I may as well retain it myself.
Any one fancy a private plate for there Jag or Merc? its OLL 682

Does that even matter? When its gone its gone for good thats for sure...
Yeah I think it does. It would be nice to know what's going on in the international market, which countries are investing and where their is potential to make some coin. I don't really care where it goes. The UK has done it's fair share of poaching over the years, it's not so bad if a few go out.

Will be a shame mate but like Aspro says the UK has done some poaching over the years, In the last 10 years I myself have taken the oldest bus known to Portugal out of the country and the oldest bus out of France, I believe they are both still in the UK
