Ok peeps i know the best way to fit them it seams are rivnuts for a thread and use bolts, but other ways please to secure them, dont want them welded on so i can remove them??????? ta
Oh i havnt got access to a rollover so gonna be underneath my bus with jacks and safety stuff

I had mine welded on, as per the originals, but obviously not removable for cleaning/painting etc.

Guess you could "glue" them on as bodyshops do with panels on new cars these days?

And you could always drill and use self tappers?

Thanks Richard, i had thought of self tappers but im sure i seem to remember someone saying they would vibrate and loosen out, so might try tiger seal and pop rivets, at least i could drill them out quick

We have only the centre section fitted to ours, and it's fitted on with large self tappers with a 10mm head and washers approx 20mm long, been on for 2 years with no problems working loose, someone called them (speed bolts or quick screws) they possibly have a correct name as we also have them on the rear valence/apron.

SOLUTION

IMO rivnuts are the best non-permanent solution. Use steel ones, not aluminium. You don't need a rollover frame - I did mine lying on my back. Use heavy duty axle stands (which you should anyway for a bus) and get it up as high as you can. It's not much fun but once it's done, it's done.

Thanks DoubleD, thats what i really wanted to do!!! yours looks great, i couldnt see how i was going to do it underneath axle stands on my back, bet it was a nightmare????...youve inspired me for more torture LOL..that and the stonechip paint going wrong

I bought some from AH Schofield, these were the latest batch of panels with good strengthening webs in them
Good gauge, good shape, fit well without issues..reasonable price. I am pleased with them..







I had one from the previous batch about five years ago...these were much improved
My bus was etch primed, primed, gravitexed, painted with top coat on the underside of the bus and the inside of the belly pan and then mine were welded on.

They look good

Mine are the earlier Schofield ones - they are OK but they have improved. I think welded is the best for strength, as long as you have prepared everything properly, as you obviously have.

Split Bus Kev gave me an old AHS belly pan to try...and it did not fit well but then I saw a thread on here saying they were much better and had a special price so I ordered some and they were obliging and gave me the offer...
