I am trying to fit a Creative IRS kit to the rear of my bus but am a little concerned about where the rear shock mounts fit. If I were to fit as per the instructions then I would be cutting through the joint where two panels meet and and would take away the strength in the joint.
To be honest I wish I never started it but I have already removed the original frame horns so I can't really go back now. Does anyone have any advice on how I should do this?

Get under your van and ring Dave at Creative. That's what I did and was then mystified as to why I couldn't work it out for myself!

I decided that I didn't want to cut away any metal, so I shortened the mount, re-drilled it, ground the back flat and fitted it as shown with a reinforcing plate behind, inside the chassis channel. I discussed it with Dave Palmer and he thought it would be fine - and it is. The top bolt goes right through, ie. two bolts through the chassis.

What a brilliant idea, saves me cutting. Thanks for that.

you could turn the mount horizontally to follow the line of the chassis arm, that's what I did with mine as it saves cutting out the inner panel work.

Whichever way you do it, you'll need to size your shock length accordingly. Creative show a table on their website to assist with this. If you get it wrong, you can damage the shock absorber and waste a lot of money. Dave Palmer was very helpful over choosing the right length - it all depends on the ride height with a normal load on board. My advice would be don't buy the shock absorbers until the suspension has settled down and the height is finalised.

I have bought the CE universale shock mouts for my bus with beetle IRS.
But i can't get shock in to a straight position with these.
The shocks are pointing way to much to the outside.
I can make the mounts smaller so that the shocks come closser to the chassis and stand more straight then.
Anybody else who has used these mounts,or see another probleme.

Just started my IRS conversion.

Creative sell two sorts of shock mount. The one I think you are trying to fit and a "self locating" one which just slides into position against the corner of the fuel tank floor. Looks OK regarding my test fitment but I have not yet bolted it up or tried position relative to shocks.

As far as I am aware, the CE shock mounts are normally used with the early bay type of rear hub carriers. Yours look like the Beetle or Porsche variety, in which case the chassis shock mount and the hub carrier shock mounting point may not line up correctly. I may be completely wrong, but all I can say is that mine lined up properly using the early bay hub carriers.

A call to Dave Palmer at CE would confirm this one way or the other.
