balancing...?

Most people understand the benefit of getting their engine internal components balanced, rather than fitting them straight out the box, but what about other rotating components?
I'm wondering if anyone has ever tested anything else, like the balance of an alternator assembly including the fan? Or brakes? etc

Vw balanced fans and pulleys. I have seen balancing holes in alternator rotors.
I have seen pictures of stripped down alternators being balanced with pulley and fan as a complete assembly.
Brakes can be balanced if you have on car wheel balancing. Elite in Essex do it
