Recommendations for a decent 12v inverter?

Recommendations for a decent 12v inverter?

by passion4 » Tue Sep 08, 2015 4:30 pm
Not looking to power anything too demanding, more just to charge up cameras, laptop/tablet and the like. Ideally after something with at least a single plug and USB sockets and be reliable with a decent build quality!

Would something like a Ring Automotive PowerSource Inverter 500w RINVU500 be any good? Any other recommendations?

From the little I've read, am I right in thinking that pure sine wave ones are 'better' than modified sine wave ones?

if you want decent…get pure sine

we have a 3000w pure sine in the eriba running off a 120amp leisure battery …powers anything, including the absolute necessity …hair straighteners LOL

Yes, but how quick does it drain the battery, couple of hair straighteners?

For tablets and cameras wouldn't you be better staying DC....Most charge at c5v????

So you going 12v DC to 230v AC to 5v DC all wasting power.

Solar panel feeding leisure battery charging direct to item battery via USB

I've got a little (300 watt I think) inverter in the garage. No USB but plug obviously. Free to any of you guys if you want it.

You can buy 12v cig lighter to USB chargers cheaply enough. If that's all your charging. That's why I no longer need my inverter
