Front shock absorbers

by DJDUNKY » Wed Sep 09, 2015 8:39 pm
Hi guys,

Can someone please shed some light on this....
I am rebuilding my stock front beam and purchased the BOGE front shocks. The top mount using the M12 bolt is fine but the bottom mounting that fits on the stud with the shoulder appears to be too small. It could probably be beaten on but surely it should be able to push on? And does there need to be a spring washer before it goes on then one on the other side before the nut?

Thanks
Duncan

Are the mounting studs just a bit rough and lumpy with age,or are there remnants of the old shocker sleeve still there.I usually clean up with a bit of emery paper or similar wrapped around it ,or is it possible the sleeves are too neatly made on the new shockers?

Cheers. I think maybe they are just too snug. Should they rotate freely on the stud shoulder?

Should there be spring washers either side?

single sprung washer (on the nut side) or nylon lock nut

Thanks Madison. I was just looking at the parts list and it seems to suggest a spring on both sides which is weird. I assume the nut basically stops the strut from falling off as the shoulder on the stud is 12mm but the thread on the stud is 10mm
