Rear bumper

Rear bumper

by Shiplee123 » Tue Mar 22, 2016 2:38 pm
Over the weekend I reinstalled my engine.
Today I went to fit the rear valance and bumper and things just wernt sitting nice with the new aftermarket exhaust.
I noticed someone in the past has made a real bodge job with some brackets on the bumpers which I've now removed.
I've put the bumper irons on the bus , now need to fit the bumper.
The holes don't match up so I'm assuming it's not an og bumper to the bus.
What would u guys do?
Re drill new holes and bolt the bumper straight onto the bumper irons maybe ???

Have you got a pic of the inside of the bumper?

OG bumpers have brackets welded inside the bumper top to bottom that the triangular bit you have on your bus bolts too.....
So normally the triangular bits stay with the bumper - and you offer up the bumper complete with brackets to the chassis rails.

That's not an OG split bumper. As said should have a plate with captivated nuts. Looks a bit too lightweight to be OG bay too.

The triangular bits in the picture are part of the bumper brackets and those stay with the bumper bracket - and you offer up the bumper complete with bumper plates inside to the bumper brackets which mount to the chassis rails.

Or you offer the bumper with brackets bolted on to the plates on the bumper to the chassis rails..

Those bumper brackets are correct, they are shaped to mate with brackets welded behind the bumper.

You can the pressing inside the bumper has an Indented area to match the plate on the end of the bumper bracket..
