For those that have done this conversion who have the tech knowledge the question is:
944T rear sub frame is going into my 66, the torsion bars are visibly thinner than the stock vw ones, add to that a 911 lump and are the 944 bars going to hack it? If not what solutions have people tried in the past. Many thanks ahead of the responses.

You could put coilover springs on the shocks?

I've going to use the 911 torsion beam and keep the transmission mounts so I can use the original gearbox and engine as the good lord intended. I'm going to get some 29mm dia torsion bars from pelican to compensate for the extra weight. What diameter are the 944 torsion bars? Are they longer or shorter than split bars?

fit the rear roll bar

look up 968 mo30 rear springs - coilovers
use in conjunction = stock

the mo30 has a fatter rear roll bar too.

-the rear springs 'if you like' are longer, so offer more torsion twistyness
-they are fatter than a bug - realistically the weight of the van with a 944 rear is thuis
-because your spring plate angle is stock 944, because the alloy arms have cast in lowering, the rotational moments of doingsare up and right'back' not forwards

so what you are saying realistically is, where do i fit the bump stops?
-well if you have 85.5 arms - where the circles are!!!

you do realise you need yo mount the shock inside the wheel well?

-you must drill the nose cone bolt theadeed holes in before you fit it.
