hy guys
i'm rebuiding the front beam of my 59 rhd devon and décided to fit a bay servo
but i've got one problem, the clutch cable cross at the same place of servo
what is the answer at this problem ?
sorry for my poor english i'm french guy who needs uk help !!!

Unfortunately your servo bracket looks welded on, so i'm not sure of the solution, which doesn't resort to cutting into it.
I was told that the servo can be relocated sideways enough that the cable runs clear, but you need to work it out before you weld the servo bracket on, and you have to run a bigger offset on the pushrod.

Alternatively.......hydraulic clutch?

That photo was half way through my servo installation.

The cable you can see coming through above the servo is the clutch but it wasn't very nice so I made a hydraulic setup..



I fitted the original accelerator components back to the bus after an experiment with fly-by-wire electronic throttles!

Hi mate, yeah the cable has gone. At the front the pedal is connected to a 13/16" Master cylinder and then the fluid runs through a JIC-4 hose to a 5/8" Wilwood Slave cylinder.

The gearbox is from a Porsche 914 so its a bit different. The slave cylinder is jammed in a very tight gap beside the gearbox.

You can buy a kit to install this type of hydraulic clutch system for a bus from Creative Engineering, mine is home made.

The only safe way I can think that you could fit the servo without obstructing the other pedals would be to use bell-cranks to change the direction of the rod movement. This is how PSA built the UK versions of cars such as the Citreon AX and Peugeot 106

You can see the bar coming across the engine bay in this picture.



Its tricky and can be a pain to adjust it correctly so I think the hydraulic clutch is much simpler!

Or don't fit the bay servo
