I had those on mine, but took them off and put on the plastic tubes from c&c or heritage. I still have the pods but didnt think I could still get the origibal hoses that fit them. I was told they were bakelite tubes?

I was under the impression that the pods acted as a baffle to stop engine noise resonating through the heater system, so are not that important?

I have the tubes from vw heritage but the garage told me there's something else missing unless I have the wrong tubes but I spoke to heritage to confirm the correct for 66
Maybe the tubes are made to get rid of the pods I just don't know?

are you refering to the plastic corrugated heat ducts?
these plastic tubes screw together and are filled with wadding to muffle noise, they connect between the tubes or pods (in the previous pictures) and the heat exchangers.
Original ones have asbestos sealing rings which need to be discarded and modified.

If you still need some pics I can post some up..

Yes the new tubes have wadding in them. You have to take the pods off, not that easy as they probably haven't been touched for 40+ years, as the new tubes are meant to fit from the H/E to the main body tube. I just had the pods and someone had used the aluminium tubes used in the engine bay to connect to the main underbody pipe.
