009 dizzy timing

hopefully someone can help

a friend is having trouble setting his 009 to the correct timing

on his 1600 twinport engine,

I have 1776 twin port,with 009, rolling road guy set at 29 degrees, most set around 30.@ 3000 rpm hope this helps

If he's still using the standard carb, he'd be better off with vacuum advace dizzy, I ftted a 009 to my twin port beetle in the belief that it would help performance, it didn't, it would either struggle to start, like the battery was flat, then run ok, but with a massive flat spot at about 1200-1500rpm.
Or if I adjusted the timing it would start first time, run ok till warmed up, then backfire on deceleration.
009s work best on dual carbs above 36mm, I'm using a standard carb with twin 34Icts and it runs smooth with no flat spots :wink:
