Its not that a complicated machining job, but would be individual for each bus / side.

Thanks Sean
Swapping A arms side to side helps eleviate excessive camber too, how low are you?
Not according to Franz from KCW, from whom I got the info

I have to admit to having never giving the A arms and good going over, just took it as gospel...will dig the spare arms out and have a look

Hi,
What sort of output flanges do you use on the gearbox for type 4 CVs?
I currently have type 1 CVs on the inner end, van running at approx standard height and have done approx 2000miles this summer.

from the wheel arch and taking a measure from the top and bottom of the wheel rim , 71mm at the top, 44mm at the bottom =27mm difference.
As for the ride hight, the distance from the rear arch to the garage floor is 470mm, i cant lift the bus any more because i am running drop spindles
and a T2 detectives beam with adjusters that wont adjust anymore, so i am stuck with the hight!!
Thanks Sean
Just been out and had a quick measure of mine.
Distance to the rear arch from the floor 430mm, so I can't get to the top edge of the rim, so I only measured at the bottom and half way up. I have 35mm at the bottom, and 43mm half way up, that's only 8mm, so 16mm overall.
I have Autocraft chassis legs (same as CE) and all bay derived IRS ('cept the box), the only consession to camber is the aforementioned swapping from side to side of the A arms. Wheels and tyres are 5 1/2X15 with 195/65x15

Hi, interested in what you think of the Autocraft Chassis legs presumably you still need to remove the original frame horns to fit them?
I will be using a 68 Bay IRS set up just need to get the frame horns and maybe swop for some adjustable spring plates.
Cheers, Steve

Can't fault the Autocraft chassis legs at all, and yes you need to remove the old frame horns to fit them.
Just so you know, all Bay IRS parts upto and including '70 are the same, all parts from a '71 are the same too except for the hub carrier and brakes.

Cheers for the reply
Has anyone used this kit: http://www.vwcamperexpert.co.uk/index.php/parts/category/224/32
Think they use to trade as Boxwagon. You can use early bay springplates (or creative adjustable) and brakes, hubs, backing plates etc (which I already have) with them but you need to use the supplied a-arms along with the brackets. Price is £545 for the full kit or £50 less without the springplates...saves cutting off the frame horns too
Cheers, Steve

Yes, seen that on a few buses, and will be using that system soon on another.
Like it as there is camber adjustment that you can dial in once its all fitted.

The A arms change from '72 I believe, definitely different on a '73. Know nothing about the Brazilian ones.

Hi,
Thanks for posting , I haven't seen that type before. I am going the JMR 2.4lte efi engine with G50 box. Approx 180/200 bhp with 50 shot nitro on top. Would or do you think these arms would work.
1. with the G50 box
2. Take the 200+ BHP. john did mention the TQ but I forgot. It was still quite high.
I suppose once they were in place and happy they could be welded to the tube??
Any ideas.
Cheers
Frank.

I dont know if anyone is interested but I have a pair of Volksheaven irs arms and weld-on brackets for sale in the
"For Sale" forum.
You are not required to remove the chassis arms to fit this kit either.

Would it be possible to cut off the old a-arm brackets and fit the ones that can be adjusted? Would that take the camber away? Just adjust new brackets and then weld in place or will the adjustment have to be done at the hub with the CE kit?

You'd have to speak to Boxwagen and ask if their brackets are compatible with what you have fitted.
Or do the adjustment at the hub end by machining the hub carrier.
