Well I will only make one comment In a lot of words below) Choose WW from VWH
I have bought a VW Heritage WW pad 1/3 2/3 set for Peebles trimmed with TMI mesh grey by Bromsgrove and VWH WW Bench seat set for the 1962 Hump back seat and had it trimmed in basalt grey vinyl by Bromsgrove (a copy of the original).
I know the ww pads offerred by VWH

I cannot vouch for C&C quality but previous experience is that it = short word which the dictionary describes as Nothamptonshire word to describe the contents of a dung hill

Collecting some old seats next week, so will have a stock of springs soon.

I have a full set from Wolfsburg west, not fitted them yet but they are nice and thick, look great I can post photos if anyone wants.

I have to make new seat bases first but that won't be for a few months yet.

Selecting the right springs is easy enough. The ends of the springs are attached to the top and bottom flat metal spring pack frame . This is a flat strip frame which sits on the top and bottom of the spring pack. The springs keep these two "planes" spaced apart. The springs are held to the upper and lower frames by sheet strip soft over clips. The upper and lower frames and flips were just soft iron strip
To access the broken springs you in clamp the ends snd wind them out.
You will see they are also connected in multi spring groups.
You just wind out the broken pics. .perhaps f tom either side..
Post pics when you are done..
So rewarding when you have finished.

Can you see if there'd be be any reason why the driver's seat base pad would be different for LHD vs RHD.

To my knowledge the seat frame of the normal walk through seats are the same as 1/3 sliding drivers seats.
In the VW parts list there is just one part number listed.
The complexity of WT seat types and how they varied over the years would make a very good "sticky"
There is lot of info on thesamba.com on the LHD US versions which is good because US vans get imported over here. Not many European vans UK versions go over there.
