Very helpful- thanks all.

What’s the cost and is it just a case of removing old dizzy and installing the 123 ?

Various suppliers & differnt costs, got mine from Dan Simpson.
Simple to fit remove old and replace with 123.
Follow instructions which are easy which gets engine running.
Time with timing gun and your there, has a basic tune/ curve set as std or play with your own.

Dan gave me a set up he’d been sent from a rolling road test which I used and works a treat.

Bren did you alter the dizzy position with a timing light like you would with a stock dizzy?

Short answer yes

Long answer & way it was explained

Set crank tdc and fit 123 distributor. Turn the distributor till wires exit in position you want then align green light to slot with red and blue wire connected. Rotor arm will then align what is new number 1 lead.

The green light will indicate tdc and 0 advance. Connect black now and fire up engine, tick over will be very low as advance is 0
Time as normal to desired advance which was 7.5 which brings up revs. The programmed curve then does its magic.

Well think that’s the right way runs a dream for me.

Hi bren
Is there any chance you can put up the screen shot of your curve/ vac settings for others to play about with :)

Bren you got the same duff advice as I did initially then.

That was correct up to the point of timing as per normal....

Now you've moved, the 123 no longer knows where TDC is, so the app display won't be telling the correct figures.

Once you set the position with the LED, (ie how the instructions tell you how to do it), you don't move it. You change the advance & manifold pressure curves.

I got the same one off dan but it’s doesn’t work for my 1776.twin dells.
Idle was rough at 0 {tic) and I found that the total advance went up towards 40 degrees st 3000rpm. :(
Jim’s curve run nice and smooth on mine when I tried it the other day.

Odd as it works but see what you mean, and as per your posted graph we’re ive gone wrong. Will have a try on your graph tomorrow.

Thanks

I never put the timing gun on it other than tick over so guess I would also be over the 28 degrees I thought I was running.

As long as the LED position is correct, then the 123 will know where TDC is.

Then either use the App or a timing light to adjust the the two curves to get the timing correct. Don't physically move the 123's body.

I was given incorrect advice and it made it run really rough with over advance at cruising speeds.

If you stick to what the manual tells you, and ignore what the salesman tells you, then you won't be far off.

Followed your setup and runs sweet both to gauge and timing gun now, with both showing same reading. Graph and advice given or possibly me not fully understanding meant it over advanced getting hot.
Power delivery is far smoother than my old 009 distributor so seems a totally different engine..
