I fitted rear belts out of a T plate VW Polo,they also have a lap belt in the middle.Seam welded some box section onto the arch and onto the box section upright,without damaging exterior paint and mounted the reel on that,also drilled the box section for the locating peg,which keeps the reel upright.Cut a flap out of the box section at side of window,welded captive nut to flat bar and slid down the pillar and seam welded back up.The flat bar was about 6 inches long,which spread the load.Mounted belt retainers onto rear bulkhead,with big spreader plates on the back.Belts etc were from a local breakers yard,£15 for the lot.

Hi folks query ??? got 2 securon inertia seat belts and a lap belt for the centre for the front of my 1960 split it has a bench seat up front mounting the automatic reel and buckle all seems fairly straight forward from looking at the instructions supplied with the belts i am however stumped puzzled as to how to fix the upper bracket to the door pillar??? has anyone done this got any tips measurements as to how high i should mount these from the top of the seat back etc???

Help tips advice greatly recieved

I need to fit 2 sets of 3 point seatbelts in the back of our Westy SO42 ideally on the forward facing r & r bed next to the wardrobe.
These would be used for a child / booster seat.
Any photos, advice on type etc would be greatly appreciated.
I've looked on other threads but can't seem to find the info and photos required.

Hi Gents,

I had 3 point securon inertia seat belts put into my bus as soon as I got it, as the original lap belts were ropey to put it mildly.

The work was done by Mark at The Bus Station in Portsmouth. http://www.thebusstation.co.uk/

I believe that he had to cut into the A pillars and then weld in the mounting blocks. I can do nothing but praise his work regarding the seatbelts as they were put to the test two weeks ago in my crash.

So thanks to Mark, and if you're down south, give him a call.

Sorry I cant provide any pics of his handiwork of the installation as the Bus isnt in my possession at the moment.

I could really seeing photos of the layout with a Westy interior and how it's going to work with the wardrobe and other units.

Darrell you have PM fella heres what happened with my 3 point belts for my front bench seat i have a 3 point set up either side and a lap belt in the centre... maybe you could hook up something similar obviously dependent on the cabinet layout in the rear .... hope it helps

Anyway first off the ankor point for the shoulder mount

weld nut supplied with the seat belt kit to this to form the ankoring point

then Sooty butchered a hole in the pillar with a wood drill where as i drilled and then thettled with a file so the nut could be buried into the pillar the plate welded to the pillar

this was smoothed and leveled with filler
inertia reels and lower mounting points with spreader plates behind and also under the arch but didnt photograph these



mounting points for the catch part of the seat belts plus the centre lap belt again spreader plates where used here

and then passed through the split in the seat

all in all not a bad job

Sorry but a real nerdy question....I want to maintain the OG looks and fit 3 point fixed belts...and the ones I like are from Wolfsberg West....
Has any had the issue of "European type approval" thrust at them...I see people have fitted US belts....

My 1964 bus does not need seat belts but my D in law has nerves so fit it is....do not want inertia in the front...

any one bought from WW or had any nasty experiences with type approval...?
