the bugbox kit definantly looks best to me. But it is very pricey

had a busy week! got the t25 box mounted, the collum made up, steering wheel all back on, linkage from bevel box to rack made up, using 3 mk1 golf uj's and a pillar block bearing, electric pump mounted, piped and wired, put the wheels back on and hey i have power steering, turns from full lock to full lock really nice, road test on sunday if it ain,t raining, i,l also get some pics up this weekend

no jim not had chance yet, bloody weather! i,m not sure what angle they are at to be honnest but if i get any problems with it not returning i shall probally have to check!

well got the small litle jobs done underneath today and took it for a test drive, wow.... its responsive, very light,no wandering at all, steering returns fully after cornering, everything i expected and better really, as for turning round and parking its a plesure..... so the parts used are
astra mk3 pas rack £50 ebay
pug 106 pump £35 ebay
braided pipe with m18 and m16 ends £40 bgc motorsport
20mm pillar block self centreing bearing free from work!
mk1 golf steering uj £20 ebay
t25 bevel box £30 ebay
20x20 box, 10mm flat bar, ect ect £10
so £185 and a couple of days work and i have a split with power steering with thanks to steve ( 686busboy) for his welding, here,s a few more photos of it

been collecting all the stuff over the last year to do this sort of conversion i was just going to go with the non power assisted astra rack safe the hassle of the pump etc
a few questions why didnt you just come straight out of the transfer box and straight back why cut accross the van
and were did you get the new coloum made and is it to take the origanal wheel i dont want mine to look like its been modified from above

hiya mate, as you can see mines a lhd, you try finding a lhd astra power steering rack! thats why it goes left to right across the van, cos you carn't simply turn the rack round because it will turn the wrong way ie when you turn left it will send the bus right ect ect, as for the collum, i used the t25 bottom and the split top welded together which i cut from my old knackerd steering box, i also used the original outer sleeve which now ends on a plate fixed to the floor rather than going thru to the original steering box, the chrome you see in the picture is just a cover

i guessed that was the reson but thought there may be a clearance issue
this was how i had thought of doing it but how did you join the two columns together i thought of sleeving it pinning it and then welding it
also were did you get the support bracket for the bar under neith

there are no clearance issues i can see, as for the collum, i got them welded together, they were not just butted together and welded though, i,m sure steve will be along to tell you what kind of joint and weld he did! the support bracket was mad in house
