im just using a early bay column on mine with the lock/switch housing removed this leaves the steering wheel at the correct height and the column outer diameter is same as the split so it goes straight into splitty top rubber mounting on clock pod
just screw down the bay lower mounting to your floor and bobs your uncle! bay columns are hollow so still got horn on wheel but bays are splined and splits are tapered with a woodruff key so you cant fit your original wheel but with power steering i wont need a wheel that big

Steel ordered now so will arrive on Monday. Two types, the first to make the new columns themselves, and a second to make new external support tubes.
I think the steel, delivery and machining is going to come out at about £45 per pair. (ie a new column and outer tube) So no parts from the stock steering box need to be used at all.

will the bottom of the inner tube be plain or splined? what about putting the splines on os you could fit the t25 rag joint straight on with no welding? that would be nice

Does anyone know it matters whether you use the ZF or saginaw power rack to do this?

You could use all splitty parts, if you want to cut up a stock steering box for the outer tube, and the shaft as a donor. If you have one that's completely dead, that's a good use for it. Otherwise a complete steering box is worth selling on.

They'll initially be plain, as that's the joint I need for my fitting. If splines are needed to fit a T25 bevel box or another type of fitting, then that could be done too.

yea i have 2 rhd columns complete i will sell when im up and running
i was meaning perhaps you would be as well copying the bay outer it it fixes to the floor or somewhere else tidy, to go with the splitty inner
or just the parts to make it? i know jigs and the like get expensive
how would you want paying for these items? paypal?
you can put me down for one
may be interested in one of thoes selfe centering bearings if they would be needed on a rhd setup
just thinking you could supply any bit that you cant get from ebay then? but then it would depend on ethe link shaft thingy size i guess?
i reckon ill have a set off you

Gotcha. Yeah, the bottom of the new outer tube will have to have some sort of fixing / mount to secure it properly. Got an idea for that too.
Paypal is cool, when it comes to that.

as you know i used the og collum inner and outer as my steering box was shot, for securing the outer collum at the bottom i used a 3mm flat plate with a hole in the centre for the collom just to stik thru and welded the 2 together, the bolted the plate to the floor, i can see many busses with pas this year....

am i missing something here?
the bugbox kit, LHD, appears to have a rack the same as the one in this thread which was a RHD rack
both have the steering UJ crossing over at the front.

It's got a brake servo the size of a small moon in the way of where the rod would travel. I got a bit worried there, but no servo on ours so will be ok.
