Recommended Headlining and how to fit

Recommended Headlining and how to fit

by gazzahazza » Wed Oct 01, 2014 6:45 pm
Evening All,

looking for some advice on the best place to buy a new headliner for more 11 window SO42 (pop top). The existing one is shabby to say the least. Also does anybody have any recommended best ways of replacing the lining? Best glue etc..

Any advice/thoughts greatly appreciated

Cheers

Hi Maddison,

the existing one is a vinyl headliner. I have no idea what the original specification was but would like to stick with a vinyl replacement.

Many Thanks

Speak to Chris at wonderland classics, his headliners are spot on and he can supply glue and answer any installation questions you have.

I too have bought one from Wonderland and I am planning to fit it this winter. I have their instructions and promises of help over the phone if I get stuck, but any tips would be gratefully received!

Thanks in advance......

I have a bus fitted with a wonderland headliner and it's top notch for DIY . However for the price and the fact that a true expert does the job I would go to bromsgrove ....and have twice for a headliner in the last year. The standard is exceptional.

Yes - don't use spray adhesive. The plasticiser from the vinyl migrates into the glue and turns it into a sticky non-adhesive mess. Same with evostik. Try to find a proper vinyl upholstery glue. I've used a PU based glue and it worked perfectly when sticking the headliner at the rear.

Just a quick update to say that the Wonderland kit went in very well. My wife and I fitted it and we have never done anything like this before. We took our time and asked lots of questions beforehand, and Wonderland were happy to pass on tips and advice as promised. Recommended.

Also we used the glue they recommended and supplied which worked really well. I did use quite a lot - about 4 cans, and I'd recommend replacing all the rubbers at the end of the headlining bows - you will need two of their packs to do this.

Hope this helps someone thinking of taking the plunge.........
