Paint colours

Paint colours

by DJDUNKY » Fri Jul 17, 2015 5:54 pm
Hi,

I want to find a suitable paint colour that VW would have used when the silver/beige white steering wheel was fitted. I currently have a black steering wheel but much prefer the White.

I have a 1965 Kombi who was originally velvet green but I want to go 2 tone with the white colour on top and an undecided colour for below the swage line.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Duncan

Why not go Pearl White up top and keep the Velvet Green for beneath the line? That's in keeping with how she was originally with a little twist on top. Perfect!

Yeah I think pearly white would be a good choice, same as my beetle.
Not even considered keeping the velvet green but you've got me thinking now.

Steering wheel is silver beige L466 I bought some touch up paint to touch up damage on mine...very close..

Look for a thread by Rigamortiz who repainted his wheel..

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/inf ... stype2.php

Kombi colours are shown first

Then the period VW microbus two tone colours..

My Peebles is a 64 so L517 Velevet Green with L289 blue white above..
!966 would have been L87 Pearl White above...

The camper converters in the 60s would take your kombi and paint the top the microbus colour..so pearl white..
If yours was a kombi...was it with matt grey round the windows inside?

Devon when they converted the kombis left that the OG grey...

There is a very nice 66 D reg Devon in the Devon thread."Show us your Devons"

at the moment..

I like the Velevet Green very much (mine with bluewhite)
