Tech FAQ

A few weeks a go Brooksy has a good idea of compiling an FAQ of tech answers ( http://www.ssvc.ukshells.co.uk/phpbb/vi ... hp?p=65759 ).
From my 2 years on the forum I've seen the same questions asked several times, quite rightly the response is often "search for it as it's been discussed to death".
Search does not always highlight the best thread to look at so how about a list of the best threads for each subject area?
We could keep this up to date by updating the first post.

I've given a quick stab at some categories with some threads below (may be better examples of threads). Would be good to have one line description of the thread as well maybe.

Just an idea, what do you think?

If you think it's a good idea suggest some threads you found useful.

Looks like a mighty fine idea Doc, think the threads would have to be saved as i think theynormally get wiped off after 6 months if they've not been added to.

Hi Doc,

This is great for those of us new to splitties, as we can feel a little bit daft asking questions that have been asked before.

You have certainly answered some of the questions I wanted answering but was afraid to ask!!

All the above threads I've managed to get the links to apart from the 2nd dropped spindles thread I think they are all 2005 era so I'm guessing more up to date threads are now here and may have better information, certainly I can think of a IRS thread, over to you guys to update where you think it would help.

Ok I had better add a bit more as lots of the threads then have posts to other old threads where the links do not work e.g. http://www.ssvc.ukshells.co.uk/phpbb/vi ... php?t=5367 all you need is info after the = bit, in this case 5367. so open another window use a link I've sorted from the above page then in the web address at the top of the page replace the bit after your last = sign with the old page bit after the = sign from where the link does not work. Now it should.
