Remote oil cooler

Remote oil cooler

by gazpilot » Thu Nov 09, 2017 8:46 pm
Going to install the concept oil cooler and am confusing myself as to what I need.

Engine is full flowed and going to use a torques_uk billet filter mount

, how do I add the cooler bypass. Does anyone sell a combined unit or do I just add their thermostatic oil plate to the remote mount as well

.

Not those colours.

Sandwich plate, as name suggests, is between filter head and the filter = four ports.

Anyone have a photo of a sandwich plate installed?
How does this work...opens when the oil temp reaches?
Going to slso install concept spall fan cooler..so will have a temp sensor also in the loop.
Please?

Sandwich plates CLOSE when the oil gets to the set temperature, not open. Therefore force oil to go through the cooler.

Question on that belly pan. How does the air flow out? Scoop pulls it in, but no outlets?

On that instal no Heat exchangers and no heater tube installed.. So a large single hole.
On mine I have multiple holes all across the rear cross member. Image

What's the ratio of scoop area vs exit hole area?

Good Question..No idea..
First of all, I will have heat exchangers on my unit and wanted and have fitted heater tube.. I suggested putting these holes in.. a la lightening holes..
Any theory if what it should be?
Spall fan draw as well?
Glad for any help..

We have discussed adding rearward facing louvres into the centre belly pan.. Was enquiring about a simple louvre tool..

I'd guess exit area needs to be at least the size of inlet area, but better still if it exceeds inlet area as the air flow is not as smooth so will create back pressure, reducing air flow = less efficient cooler.

I went for holes in the belly pan. Rear facing louvres or scoop will have a venturi effect and help efficiency while driving.

I was thinking the same...thinking either with a tool on a hydraulic press or let a section in..
Entry throat is 20cm x 12.5cm
So 250 square cm.
So my holes are INADEQUATE..will calculate area I have.

I estimate I only have between 50 and 80 cm squared.
I reckon I need another 200 cm squared with louvres
I would put the louvres in the pressing areas to the rear of the centre belly pan.

Ideally would like cascades of graduated louvres and long louvres where possible.

I put the coolers more in the middle of the belly pan, so the flow in / flow out was as easy as possible. Having the cooler right at the back means the air flow hits the cross members and has to change direction to escape.

True..
Hindsight is a wonderfull thing But..C'est la vie..."

Maybe some big louvres all the way across the strip immediately after the cooler.
ATM could use a grinder and then hand form..LOL

Any way Dave and Matt will be on louvring solutions...

Remote filter housing and thermostatic sandwich plate fitted.

A) oil in
B) oil return

Is there a specific in out for C&D
