Color problems sealing wax red/beige-grey

Color problems sealing wax red/beige-grey

by John82 » Thu Nov 12, 2020 8:29 am
Please help me:
I want to paint the bus with PPG colors.
The codes as you know are:
Sealing wax red: L53
Beige/grey: L472

This codes includes basic colors that in 2020 do not exist.
Has anyone of you the right mix colors so as to have a nearly original paint?

Thank You!

These paint colours should easily be available in 2 pack paint. They are standard VW colours. If you are having your bus spayed by a vehicle paint shop they will use a local paint supplier. They should easily be able to order these colours. Not sure about ppg but they are available. Ask for a spayed sample colour from the paint supplier to be confident about the shade. Image

Thank you! You were right! I made the colors...but the sealing wax red is almost orange.... :(
I want a deep red like Coca Cola red. What’s your opinion?
Also the beige/grey is almost grey.....
I see photos of original red/white deluxe buses and I couldn’t realize that they were almost orange/grey....

Here are some pictures of mine, which is in original paint, with the exception of where some work has been done on the sills (which you can see clearly in the third photo - I need to colour mop everything).

It's definitely not a coca cola red. Very much a pinky red:

I’ve heard that SWR is very difficult to get right, so many shades, from pink to bright red, every paint manufacturer it seems to come out different. It does tend towards pink in my opinion.

On more than one occasion I’ve been asked if mine is coral - definitely has that ‘pinkish’ appearance in certain light
