Early bus (pre-63) owners fed up with twin lock nuts???

Early bus (pre-63) owners fed up with twin lock nuts???

by vwJim » Mon Aug 15, 2011 9:47 pm
I've had a prototype locking hub nut design machined up. Basically the idea is so we can loose the PITA twin jam nuts / locking tab washer system of holding your wheel drums in place / bearing adjustment correct.

Similar to how late splits can upgrade from their twin jam nuts to bay window locking nuts, ie these:

So I can gauge interest for potential batch numbers, and early bus owners let me know if its the sort of thing that might be of interest to them?

Cheers.

dont you just hate it when you think youve got it right and then you nip up the lock nuts and its too tight,

These sound great, would they fit under the csp grease caps aswell as they seem slightly small but maybe im wrong,

anyay could be interested :D

Assuming these can be used with a CSP setup I'd be interested, especially as you know I'm about to change my wheel bearings so will have the fiddle of getting this all setup correctly!

Not 100% sure on price as machinist has made me a prototype to make sure the idea works and fits inside CSP brakes as well. Will be getting my bus out at the weekend to check that. Then will commision a batch and get them plated too. Will update after some clearance testing.

Yep, setting the OG design jam nuts is a right PITA, hence the idea.

Potentially then;
